The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead estimating efforts for a well-established commercial drywall and interior systems contractor serving the Greater Boston market.

This is an opportunity for an estimating professional who understands the commercial interiors trade, knows the Boston union market, and can lead a team through complex bids while maintaining accuracy, competitiveness, and strong project margins.

We are open to an established Chief Estimator as well as a highly experienced Lead or Senior Estimator who is ready to take the next step into department leadership.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate the estimating team, assigning workloads, reviewing estimates, and helping maintain consistent estimating standards.

• Oversee commercial drywall and Division 9 estimates from initial plan review and takeoffs through final bid submission.

• Review drawings, specifications, scope requirements, labor assumptions, material pricing, and subcontractor/vendor quotes.

• Develop competitive bids that account for project complexity, labor productivity, schedule requirements, and potential risk.

• Work with general contractors, project teams, and internal leadership to clarify scope, identify opportunities, and support bid strategy.

• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

• Mentor and develop estimators, improve processes, and help strengthen the overall estimating function.

• Support bidding on projects ranging from smaller tenant fit-outs to major commercial projects valued in the tens of millions of dollars.

Project Experience

Relevant experience may include:

• Commercial tenant fit-outs

• Multifamily and residential high-rise construction

• Life science and laboratory facilities

• Courthouses and government buildings

• Museums, cultural facilities, and institutional projects

• Office buildings and large-scale commercial interiors

What We're Looking For

• Strong commercial drywall and Division 9 estimating experience, ideally with a drywall/interiors subcontractor or a general contractor that self-performs interior work.

• Demonstrated experience with union commercial construction in the Boston market.

• Five or more years of Chief Estimator experience preferred.

• Strong Lead or Senior Estimators with 10+ years of relevant experience and the ability to step into a leadership role will also be considered.

• Hands-on expertise with estimating, digital takeoffs, bid reviews, and scope analysis.

• Proficiency with QuickBid and On-Screen Takeoff.

• Experience estimating complex commercial projects with varying scopes, sizes, and schedules.

• Ability to lead, mentor, and review the work of other estimators.

• Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
