Job Overview

A well-established and growing commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimating professional looking to take the next step in their career while working on a diverse portfolio of challenging commercial construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial estimating and preconstruction, with experience developing accurate budgets and competitive bids from early conceptual design through final construction documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction estimates from conceptual design through final construction documents.

• Develop competitive bids for design-build, hard-bid, and Construction Management projects.

• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

• Manage bid preparation, subcontractor solicitation, and vendor pricing.

• Analyze and level subcontractor proposals, negotiate pricing, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Prepare estimates for self-performed construction work.

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout preconstruction.

• Assist with project scheduling, constructability reviews, and value engineering.

• Prepare cost studies, conceptual budgets, and pricing recommendations.

• Present estimates, budgets, and recommendations to leadership and clients.

• Mentor and support junior estimating team members.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction estimating or preconstruction experience.

• Experience estimating large-scale commercial, industrial, institutional, or public-sector projects.

• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and project costs.

• Experience with design-build, hard-bid, and Construction Management delivery methods.

• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software; On-Screen Takeoff preferred.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and Procore.

• Strong subcontractor relationships and experience with bid analysis and negotiations.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
