POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Senior Estimator Heavy Civil / Heavy Highwayyour roles and responsibilities will include:
The client is seeking an experienced
Senior Roadway Estimator to support heavy civil and heavy highway construction projects throughout Texas, including
Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio.
The Estimator will prepare
hard-bid, bottom-up estimates for self-performed construction projects ranging from approximately
$5 million to $30 million, with experience on projects up to $50 million highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities- Review project specifications, drawings, and proposal documents to determine project scope and estimating requirements.
- Attend and participate in pre-bid meetings.
- Prepare detailed estimates, including:
- Quantity takeoffs
- Material costs
- Labor and man-hour costs
- Equipment costs
- Production rates
- Estimate heavy highway and roadway construction work, including:
- Concrete and asphalt paving
- Road widening
- Road reconstruction
- Drainage
- Bridge work
- Dirt/earthwork
- Research historical project data, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, and productivity information to establish accurate estimating guidelines.
- Incorporate historical costs and productivity data into unit and man-hour estimates.
- Develop complete bid package estimate documentation.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation and current supplier pricing.
- Prepare and manage subcontractor requests for proposal (RFPs).
- Review design alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions based on engineering requirements, material availability, and project costs.
- Support awarded projects with additional estimating, change orders, extra work items, credits, and material procurement as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

Senior Estimator Heavy Civil / Heavy Highwaywould be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
Required Qualifications- 4+ years of heavy civil/heavy highway estimating experience.
- 4+ years of hard-bid estimating experience.
- Strong roadway estimating experience.
- Experience with concrete and asphalt paving, road widening, drainage, reconstruction, bridges, and dirt work.
- 4+ years performing detailed quantity takeoffs and material/labor/equipment pricing.
- Bottom-up estimating experience is required.
- Experience estimating self-performed construction work.
- HCSS Estimating experience required.
- At least 3 years of experience with estimating/scheduling and project management software such as HCSS, HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Primavera, Viewpoint, etc.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
- Ability to pass criminal and driving background checks.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications- TxDOT experience strongly preferred.
- Experience estimating projects in the $10M $50M range.
- 5 7 years of TXDOT or heavy highway estimating experience.
- Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
