Job Scope
Oversees daily operations of multiple departments or campuses within a specific segment of the district. Develops
long- and short-term strategies and oversees implementation of them. Responsible for implementing cost saving
procedures while increasing performance using multiple inputs and measuring outputs. Will adhere to the
execution of district-wide policies, procedures, and programs. Manages multiple development and planning
matters within scope of direction.
Position Summary
The Senior Executive Director of Academics provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational
oversight for all academic programs and services within the department. This position is responsible for planning,
implementing, and evaluating districtwide instructional initiatives that support student achievement and align with
the district's strategic priorities. The Senior Executive Director oversees curriculum alignment, instructional
program development, High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) implementation, professional learning,
departmental staffing, and budget management to ensure effective and equitable instructional practices across
the district.
Through senior management, the Senior Executive Director directs the daily operations of the department,
establishes goals and performance expectations, and develops and executes departmental strategies that advance
academic outcomes. The position provides leadership and supervision to academic and instructional departments,
ensuring alignment with state standards, district goals, accountability requirements, and best practices in teaching
and learning.
The Senior Executive Director collaborates closely with district and campus leaders to support instructional system
coherence, school improvement and turnaround efforts, performance monitoring, and organizational
effectiveness. This role serves as a key member of the district leadership team, driving innovation, continuous
improvement, and strategic decision-making to enhance teaching, learning, and student success.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all academic programs, services, and
initiatives, ensuring alignment with the district's mission, strategic priorities, and student achievement
goals.
- Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the district's K -12
curriculum, instructional programs, and academic systems to ensure rigorous, equitable, and high -quality
learning experiences for all students.
- Diagnose instructional needs and establish districtwide instructional priorities by identifying,
recommending, and implementing curriculum resources, instructional programs, assessments, and
materials aligned with state standards and district expectations.
- Direct the development and execution of long-range academic strategies that promote instructional
excellence, innovation, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement across all schools and
departments.
- Oversee the integration and alignment of all instructional programs and academic initiatives within the
district's educational framework to ensure consistency, coherence, and equitable access to high -quality
instruction.
- Collaborate with district and campus leaders to develop, implement, and evaluate instructional
improvement efforts, accountability initiatives, school support strategies, and academic performance
goals.
- Establish departmental goals, performance measures, and operational priorities; monitor progress; and
ensure effective implementation of academic initiatives and strategic objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum, instruction, assessment systems, and academic
programs through the analysis of student performance data, program outcomes, and organizational
metrics to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Identify, evaluate, and apply educational research, emerging trends, and best practices to strengthen
instructional systems, improve student outcomes, and advance district priorities.
- Develop, review, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and guidelines related to curriculum,
instruction, assessment, and academic programming to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance.
- Ensure districtwide compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations,
accountability measures, and board policies related to academics and instructional services.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and evaluation of professional learning opportunities designed to build
leadership capacity, strengthen instructional practices, support talent development, and improve
organizational performance.
- Develop and oversee departmental budgets and staffing plans, making recommendations based on
documented program needs, enrollment projections, strategic priorities, and available financial resources.
- Direct, supervise, and evaluate academic leaders and departmental staff, fostering a culture of
accountability, collaboration, innovation, high expectations, and continuous improvement.
- Cultivate collaborative partnerships with district leaders, campus administrators, families, higher
education institutions, and community stakeholders to advance the district's academic vision and
strategic goals.
- Model and promote the district's core values of integrity, high expectations, commitment, teamwork,
respect, and a student-centered focus.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years' equivalent experience and
- 3+ years of professional experience in education or curriculum and instruction.
- Progressive leadership experience to include:
o Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, and Managing employees or teams.
o Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification
- Valid Texas Mid-management, administrator, or principal certification
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee
(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Preferred Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- 10+ years' progressive experience in education or curriculum and instruction.
- 6+ years of progressive leadership experience to include:
o Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, and Managing employees or teams.
o Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.
- Valid Texas supervisory or administrative certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Work Environment:
