The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. Primary Role

This is intermediate level work involving moderately complex assignments within the job family. Employees in this position gather and analyze data related to public utilities, review utility applications and related materials, research assigned portions of cases, and prepare exhibits, testimony, and supporting documentation. Work is performed under moderate to minimal supervision. Employees may independently handle presentations at public meetings and may provide expert testimony in routine cases or testify regarding findings from assigned research.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare financial updates, including relevant analyses versus prior periods and providing forecasts/budgets, examining associated risk/opportunities.
  • Support merger and acquisition activities with sophisticated financial analysis and modeling, market and target company research, due diligence, and coordination of activities with internal and external colleagues.
  • Provide financial support and analysis for business development and strategic planning activities such as partnerships, strategic alliances, joint ventures, reengineering projects and divestitures.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis for projects and departments, develop graphs, reports, dashboards, routine and ad hoc reports and present reports and project results to management.
  • Expedite reporting processes and analysis by combining and analyzing data from disparate systems and processes and interpreting trends and patterns in financial data sets.
  • Work with internal stake holders, report requestors, and management to solidify requirements, discuss interpretation of reports, provide feedback, and propose actions for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other business areas to develop and maintain financial planning activities including departmental budgets, staffing models, and pricing models.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
  • Recommend establishment of new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information; identify trends and recommends business improvements.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or equivalent combination of undergraduate education and work experience that provides the knowledge and exposure to the financial analysis of utility rates, expenses, revenues and services and exposure to the fundamental theories, principles and concepts of the field.
  • Advanced degree or CPA preferred.
