Job Description

This hands-on engineering role will focus on designing, testing, and qualifying precision hardware for complex equipment platforms. You will investigate equipment performance issues, develop mechanical solutions, and help minimize particle generation and contamination within ultra-clean manufacturing environments.

Client Details

A global technology manufacturer developing advanced capital equipment for the semiconductor industry. The organization combines precision engineering, automation, and advanced materials to improve the performance and reliability of complex manufacturing systems.

Description

  • Lead root cause investigations involving equipment performance, particle generation, contamination, and product defectivity
  • Perform hands-on testing and technical analysis using particle counters, optical inspection systems, SEM/EDX, VPD ICP-MS, and other advanced metrology equipment
  • Design precision mechanical components for critical equipment modules
  • Develop and evaluate materials, coatings, seals, surface treatments, and finishes for ultra-clean applications
  • Identify and reduce particle generation caused by wear, friction, vibration, and mechanical interfaces
  • Use CAD, PLM, and FEA tools to design, document, analyze, and validate hardware solutions
  • Develop test plans and complete hardware qualification activities in laboratory and production environments
  • Collaborate with process engineering, design engineering, equipment engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams
  • Partner with customers and suppliers to address technical specifications, equipment issues, and corrective actions
  • Support technical audits, customer inquiries, equipment upgrades, and field problem-solving activities
  • Assist with equipment installations, testing, and hardware modifications
  • Travel internationally to support customer testing and equipment upgrades, approximately 10% to 25%

  • Hands-on experience operating, testing, or troubleshooting complex mechanical or electromechanical equipment
  • Experience designing precision mechanical components and assemblies
  • Understanding of contamination control, equipment cleanliness, or particle-generation mechanisms
  • Experience with cleanroom operations, preferably within ISO Class 1 through ISO Class 5 environments
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, precision assemblies, or automated material-handling equipment
  • Experience applying structured root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
  • Proficiency with Creo or a comparable 3D CAD platform
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation and product lifecycle management processes
  • Experience with FEA tools such as Ansys is preferred
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and statistical process control
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers on hardware or technology development
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in laboratory and cleanroom environments
  • Strong technical communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment

Job Offer

  • Hands-on ownership of advanced hardware development initiatives
  • Challenging mechanical design and equipment problem-solving work
  • Exposure to advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies
  • Opportunities to take projects from initial investigation through design, testing, and implementation
  • Direct collaboration with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • International exposure through customer-site testing and equipment upgrades
  • The ability to make a measurable impact on equipment reliability, cleanliness, and manufacturing performance
