- Impact: Your setups, offsets, and in‑process checks determine whether massive parts meet spec the first time.
- Range: Contribute anywhere from load/setup to full independent setup, programming, and execution—compensation scales with capability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and supervision to design efficient, safe, first‑time‑right setups.
What Will I Do Day to Day?
- Load, rig, and fixture oversized workpieces using overhead cranes and precision tooling.
- Set up and operate Horizontal Boring Mills and Vertical Turret Lathes per drawings and job travelers.
- Run in‑process dimensional inspections using height gages, dial indicators, and precision levels for large‑format features.
- Control the cut: apply offsets, make minor program edits, and hold GD&T callouts.
- Escalate safety, tooling, and quality concerns early—prevent issues before they become downtime.
- Keep records straight, including material and job traceability.
What Do I Need to Bring?
- Background on large CNC platforms (HBMs, VTLs, large boring mills, or comparable heavy iron).
- Confidence working around very large parts and advanced fixturing systems.
- Fluency reading engineering drawings with GD&T.
- Experience with large‑scale inspection methods (height gauges, indicators, precision levels).
- Fanuc or similar control experience; comfort with program edits is a plus.
- Independent setup/programming capability preferred (and pays accordingly).
- Overhead crane operation experience or readiness to certify.
- Safety‑first mindset with rigging and heavy equipment.
