HR Consultant, Senior

Location: Oakland, CA

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid

Contract Details

  • Contract Duration: 4 months
  • Pay Rate: $62.00 $68.00 / Hour (USD)

Job Summary

This Senior HR Consultant role provides consulting and guidance to leaders and employees on the performance management process. The consultant collaborates with leaders in developing action/improvement plans to address performance gaps, interprets policies and procedures for specific situations, and initiates collection of information and research for HR Managers, Directors, subject matter experts, or the Law Department when a problem warrants an escalation due to complexity or sensitivity. The role collaborates with the HR team and line of business clients to ensure root cause is identified for full resolution, and follows up with the HR team and line of business clients to ensure solution is completed and the problem has been addressed. The consultant conducts internal investigations in response to complaints working directly with leaders and employees through interviews and information gathering in support of the workplace issue resolution process, and summarizes event facts and analysis for review and submission to EEO Investigators, the Law Department, HR, and leadership. The role may also perform HR Business Partner duties such as senior leader advice and counsel, and HR program delivery (succession planning, annual pay process, etc.).

Required Skills

  • Employee relations experience and conflict resolution
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving performance issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of California labor law and federal employment regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience as an HR business partner

Education Requirements

  • B.A. in Business or Social Sciences (required)

Required Experience

  • 3 to 6 years of experience working in Human Resources, with 2 years in an increasingly responsible role as a lead or specialist
