Job Details: Job Title – Senior Java Backend DeveloperLocation – Mechanicsburg, PA (Hybrid) Duration – 6+ months Job Description:Required Skills- 8+ years of backend development experience, including 5+ years building Spring/Spring Boot microservices.
- Expert knowledge of modern Java (17+), concurrency, and virtual threads.
- Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Cloud.
- PostgreSQL or equivalent databases, with JPA/Hibernate performance tuning.
- Messaging technologies such as Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
- OAuth2/OIDC authentication and authorization.
- Working knowledge of PKI, HSM/KMS, and COSE/CBOR.
- Maven, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and OpenTelemetry-based observability.
- Strong mentoring, technical writing, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Skills- Familiarity with digital identity ecosystems.
- Experience integrating identity-proofing vendors and systems of record.
- Experience in government or other regulated environments.
- Azure or AWS cloud certification.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and document REST APIs and backend microservices.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization using Spring Security, OAuth2, OIDC, and role-based, least-privilege access.
- Apply secure coding practices, including input validation, safe HTTP client configurations, and secure secrets management.
- Implement cryptographic signing and encryption using Bouncy Castle and cloud KMS/HSM SDKs, keeping private keys within the HSM and following approved algorithms.
- Build reliable services using Resilience4j and optimize data access with Spring Data JPA/Hibernate.
- Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
- Lead design reviews and document architectural decisions.
- Mentor junior developers and conduct constructive code reviews.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, DevOps, QA, and front-end teams while communicating risks and progress to stakeholders.
- Support production services through incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
