Senior Java/GCP Developer - Pricing Application
Location: Henrico, VA (Remote flexibility) | Job Type: C2C
About the Role
Join a transformative team as a Senior Java/GCP Developer, taking full ownership of a newly modernized, cloud-native pricing application. You will be hands-on in every phase of the software development lifecycle, from troubleshooting complex production issues to executing critical enhancements and optimizing application performance. This is an action-oriented role for a self-starter who thrives in complex environments and enjoys solving real-world business challenges in a collaborative, cross-functional setting.
Responsibilities
- Drive development and enhancement of a pricing application on Google Cloud Platform.
- Analyze and resolve production issues with root-cause investigations and rapid troubleshooting.
- Design, build, and maintain Java and Spring Boot microservices as well as REST APIs.
- Manage and optimize SQL-based databases, including PostgreSQL and AlloyDB.
- Deploy and support containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and GKE.
- Lead application performance tuning, resolving technical debt, and updating business logic.
- Oversee and execute CI/CD processes, including code releases and production deployments.
- Collaborate with architecture, DevOps, business analysis, and external delivery teams.
- Quickly understand intricate pricing rules, integrations, and transaction flows.
- Clearly communicate progress, dependencies, and solutions with technical and business stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
- Senior-level expertise in Java and Spring Boot backend development.
- Proven experience building cloud-native applications in GCP.
- Proficient in microservices and REST API development.
- Advanced SQL skills; hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or AlloyDB.
- Skilled in Docker, Kubernetes, and GKE environments.
- Strong familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and production release management.
- Demonstrated success in production support and complex defect resolution.
- Ability to independently master and enhance existing applications within a cross-functional environment.
Preferred Skills
- Apigee expertise
- Salesforce integration experience
- Familiarity with GCP services (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Workflows, Vertex AI)
- Databricks deployment
- JDE or ERP systems exposure
- Background in pricing, transaction-processing, or rules-based applications
- Experience collaborating with third-party partners or managed service providers
