  • Lead engagement with regulatory bodies and coordinate permitting, approvals, reporting, inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Identify environmental and regulatory risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and support decision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship on environmental monitoring, water management, reclamation, remediation, waste management, and other environmental programs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with regulators, Indigenous Nations, local communities, and other partners.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of employees, contractors, and consultants by fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Provide strategic oversight of environmental and regulatory budgets, resource allocation, consultant contracts, and technical studies to support closure, stewardship, and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with site leadership, corporate specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental, regulatory, and closure requirements into site planning and execution.
  • Provide strategic advice on emerging regulatory requirements and industry trends, and prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for site and corporate leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 12 years of dynamic experience in environmental management, regulatory compliance, permitting, closure, reclamation, or risk management within the mining, natural resource, industrial, or consulting sectors.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing environmental and regulatory strategies within complex U.S. regulatory environments, with solid understanding of Washington environmental legislation, permitting processes, and mine closure requirements.
  • Experience establishing effective relationships with regulatory agencies, Tribal Nations, local communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including employees, contractors, and consultants.
  • Strong understanding of environmental monitoring, water management, reclamation, remediation, waste management, and environmental risk assessment.
  • Experience supporting mine closure, legacy property management, water treatment, or other closure-related environmental programs is an asset.
