Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Lead Java Developer for a confidential consulting opportunity supporting a major enterprise application modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on Java development expertise with technical leadership capabilities, helping design scalable applications, solve complex engineering challenges, and guide development teams.
This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can contribute to application architecture, promote software engineering best practices, mentor developers, and support the delivery of reliable enterprise-grade solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise applications using Java.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
Develop and maintain enterprise applications, APIs, and microservices-based solutions.
Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Design and optimize SQL queries, database schemas, and data access components.
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, design principles, and engineering best practices.
Mentor developers, support technical skill development, and promote knowledge sharing.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, technical discussions, and delivery planning.
Contribute to CI/CD processes, DevOps practices, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
Troubleshoot complex application issues and drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
Support cloud-based application development and modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
3+ years of experience leading development teams or providing technical leadership.
Strong proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented software design.
Experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and database design principles.
Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed application design.
Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern application deployment practices.
Experience with Agile methodologies, code reviews, and modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
Strong technical problem-solving, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to balance hands-on development responsibilities with team leadership and technical decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience working with NoSQL databases.
Exposure to enterprise application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
Experience improving application scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams and business stakeholders.
