Job Description

Litigation Paralegal (Management-Level)

Location: Remote in California
Employment Type: Full-Time
Practice Area: Civil Litigation

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal who understands the full lifecycle of litigation and the demands associated with it. This is not a secretarial or administrative support role. We are looking for a proactive, management-level professional who takes ownership of their caseload, anticipates needs, and operates with precision under pressure.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment, can manage competing deadlines without error, and approaches their work with accountability and initiative — not a task-based mindset.

Key Responsibilities

E-Filing & Court Procedures

  • Prepare and file documents in California state and federal courts

  • Ensure compliance with applicable rules of court, formatting requirements, and filing deadlines

  • Maintain working knowledge of electronic filing systems and procedural updates

Litigation Calendaring

  • Manage and track court deadlines, hearings, discovery cutoffs, and statutory timelines

  • Maintain accurate and proactive calendaring using litigation management systems

Drafting & Proofreading

  • Assist in drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal correspondence

  • Proofread and cite-check documents for accuracy, formatting compliance, and completeness

Legal Research & Writing

  • Conduct basic legal research and prepare summaries or memoranda as needed

  • Support attorneys in case development and strategy preparation

Case & Document Management

  • Organize and maintain comprehensive case files

  • Manage document productions and coordinate records collection

  • Track deadlines and case progression across multiple matters

Discovery Management

  • Prepare, review, and manage discovery requests and responses

  • Oversee document review and production processes

  • Coordinate with clients and third parties to ensure timely compliance

Project & Workflow Management

  • Independently manage multiple active litigation matters

  • Prioritize deadlines effectively and communicate proactively with attorneys

  • Take ownership of workload and ensure matters move forward efficiently

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of California state and federal court systems

  • Experience with electronic filing protocols and court rules

  • Demonstrated experience in litigation calendaring systems

  • Ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven work with acute attention to detail

  • Proven ability to work under pressure without sacrificing accuracy

  • Familiarity with legal software and document management systems

Key Traits We Value

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Organized and conscientious

  • Proactive and solution-oriented

  • Strong communicator (written and verbal)

  • Team player with a professional and personable demeanor

  • Tech-savvy and adaptable

  • Takes ownership and accountability for outcomes

What We Are Looking For

We are highly interested in candidates who operate at a management level — individuals who understand the litigation process beyond clerical tasks and can function as a strategic support partner to attorneys.

If you are a go-getter who anticipates needs, takes pride in accuracy, and thrives in a demanding litigation environment, we encourage you to apply.

If you're open to exploring a new opportunity, I’d welcome a confidential conversation.
