Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $154,968 - $205,332.06. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about High Power Testing Labs? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Electrical and Mechanical Labs department. As Senior Manager-High Power Test Lab, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
The NJC High Power Test Laboratory plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of S&C''s products through a comprehensive range of verification and validation testing capabilities. The NJC (Test) Laboratory is responsible for guaranteeing the performance standard of S&C''s product line to meet customer needs.
The Senior Manager-High Power Test Lab is a key leadership role tasked with ensuring the laboratory''s alignment with current and business requirements and recommending capabilities, for potential future requirements. This leadership roles is responsible for overseeing all aspects of lab operations, including the supervision of both direct and indirect laboratory team members. The role involves a focus on equipment, team expertise, and the overall quality of work and systems within the laboratory. The Senior Manager plays a pivotal role in steering the laboratory toward the ambitious objective of becoming a world-class facility in terms of technology, service and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Develop, refine and implement a comprehensive vision for the NJC Laboratory, ensuring alignment with S&C''s objectives, customer needs and industry trends.
Capital Project Management and Operational Excellence
- Lead major capital projects, resource planning and execution to enhance the laboratory''s infrastructure and capabilities. Implement operational excellence initiatives, leveraging lean methodologies to optimize process, reduce, waste and improve overall efficiency.
Strategic Market Analysis
- Understand market trends and work with industry partners on technological advancements to identify growth opportunities and position the laboratory as a leader in electrical equipment testing.
Functional Leadership
- Provide strong leadership and direction to managers and senior contributors, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Conduct regular performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate career development opportunities to support individual growth and organizational succession planning.
Team Development and Expertise Enhancement
- Establish and oversee a robust training and development framework, focusing on enhancing the technical skills, knowledge and competencies of the laboratory team. Ensures lab leadership team is trained and prepared for new enhancements and growth opportunities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, understanding their unique requirements and developing customized testing solutions to meet their needs.
Customer Focused Operations
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and technical teams to align testing services with customer expectations and enhance customer satisfaction.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage the NJC Laboratory budget, ensuring accuracy and appropriate allocation of resources to achieve departmental strategies and objectives.
Quality Management and Compliance
- Ensure rigorous adherence to the ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems, maintaining accreditation through regular audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Implement robust quality control processes, monitor testing procedures, and establish performance metrics to uphold the highest standards of accuracy, reliability and integrity.
Electrical Testing Safety
- Establish and enforce rigorous safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment, minimizing risks associated with electrical testing and equipment operation.
Continuous Learning
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration, promoting cross-functional interactions and knowledge sharing among team members.
Understand and Comply with All Applicable Company Policies and Rules
Required
- Bachelor''s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of progressive experience working in electrical power engineering setting, preferably involving large electrical machines.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience working in a high-voltage test facility.
- Strong understanding of high-voltage testing, electrical grid systems and related technologies with proficiency in utilizing laboratory equipment, software tools and data analysis techniques to analyze said systems.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical equipment testing methodologies, standards and compliance requirements such as ISO 17025 and ISO 9001.
- Demonstrated experience in upholding the highest standards of quality, safety and regulatory compliance with a focus on implementing and maintaining quality management systems, conducting internal audits, and ensuring continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to understand customer requirements, develop tailored solutions, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to lead, guide, motivate and delegate to deliver results, guild teams and capabilities, embrace change, drive decisions and results, embrace culture and inclusion and exhibit integrity.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from Senior Leadership to support staff and present influentially to achieve buy-in from executives, customers, and other parties.
- Skilled at navigating through ambiguity and leading teams and organizations through change.
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to sure and analyze data to drive informed decisions, problem-solve difficult issues and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in electrical equipment testing and laboratory management.
- Financial acumen and numerical ability to manage budgetary resources to maximum effectiveness.
