Position Summary
RT Connector, a division of Ryan Specialty, is seeking a Director or Sr. Manager of Products & Underwriting, dependent upon experience which will support our Wholesale division of the business. This role is pivotal in positioning RT Connector as the premier solution for digitalized insurance capacity in the U.S. wholesale market. This role will focus on building insurance capacity, product delivery, carrier stewardship, and strategic planning.
Location: The ideal candidate will be hybrid and will report to our corporate office in downtown Chicago 2-3 days per week (155 N Wacker Drive, Suite 4000 Chicago, IL 60606)
Fully remote opportunity available for candidates located outside of the Chicagoland area and this consideration will be based on experience level.
What will your job entail?
Core Responsibilities:
- Insurance Product Development: Drive strategy by identifying target capacity specifications (class codes, geographies, etc.) and participating in the full delivery lifecycle from requirements to release.
- Carrier Management: Oversee underwriting guideline changes, provide governance, and maintain strong communication with internal teams (Compliance, PMO, Actuarial) and external vendors.
- Distribution: Collaborate with marketing to develop tools that drive platform adoption and deliver white papers, data sheets, and training materials.
- Strategic Planning: Assess market trends to adjust product strategy and bring innovative ideas to the RT Connector platform.
Required Qualifications:
- Professional Experience: Minimum 7 years of combined experience in wholesale brokerage and/or underwriting E&S commercial insurance.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- Industry Expertise: Proven experience with digital distribution of commercial insurance and carrier relationship management.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) and PowerPoint for data analysis and executive-level presentations.
- Communication: Demonstrated experience interpreting and writing complex technical information for external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: ACSR, CPCU, or similar professional insurance designations.
- Environment: Experience handling multiple high-priority deliverables in a dynamic, fast-moving, or small-company environment.
- Market Intelligence: Proven track record of monitoring trends within the small commercial insurance segment and producing comprehensive competitor and market analyses.
- Carrier Stewardship: Previous experience overseeing underwriting governance and monitoring profitability/KPIs for assigned lines of business.
- Continuing Education: Active pursuit of industry-specific continuing education and attendance at major industry conferences.

The target salary range for this position is $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
