About This Role

Compensation Range: $165,000 - $180,000/yr.

This position is required to be based within the DMV area, with regular onsite presence mandatory to meet the needs of the role.

The Senior Manager - Program Manager will play a critical role in managing the delivery of high priority initiatives for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The Senior Manager - Program Manager will be a member of a program management office (PMO) and is responsible for strategic planning and execution of initiatives.

What You Will Work On

  • Facilitate the planning and execution of strategic initiatives
  • Align programs with agency mission, federal priorities, and budgets
  • Execute program lifecycle from Initiation planning execution monitoring closeout
  • Conduct performance management including creating and tracking metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Track deliverables and progress and drive towards completion
  • Conduct risk management including identifying, mitigating and tracking risks in a complex organizational and delivery environment
  • Provide budget and financial oversight to assist with the management of appropriated funds, forecasting and cost control
  • Provide executive communication including preparing briefings for SES, agency leadership, congressional staff, etc.
  • Support stakeholder management including coordinating across agency departments and vendors
  • Assist with planning and coordinating change management to help drive transformation in highly regulated environments
  • Manage competing priorities, contracts, and policy constraints

What You Will Bring

  • Decisive and action-oriented individual with a strong background in program delivery
  • 12+ years of experience managing large projects and/or programs, a plus if experience is in the VA
  • Undergraduate degree or higher
  • Located with the Greater Washington DC Area (DMV Area)
  • Willingness to travel and be onsite fulltime
  • Ability to understand and identify delivery risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in operating within a PMO structure
  • Six Sigma training or PMP project management certification a plus
  • Energetic team player with excellent written communications, verbal communications, and conceptual skills and experience working with distributed delivery teams and leadership
  • Strong track record of project delivery and benefits realization
  • Strong interpersonal communication, problem solving, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Excellent organizational, coordination and meeting facilitation skills
  • Self-starter / self-motivated, capable of staying on track and pursuing solutions without supervision.
  • Experience in strategic planning of the broader company objectives
  • Understanding of federal legislation, a plus if have understanding of VA policies that impact program delivery
  • Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (Ai) to streamline program operations
  • Ability to receive a Public Trust clearance
