Job Description

The Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing manufacturing processes for aerospace components that are critical to flight safety on both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft.

Responsibilities
  • Process components from raw state, including gears, castings, forgings, material stock, and similar inputs, to finish blueprint requirements for manufacturing in the plant on machining centers or through outside vendors for machining or processing.
  • Work primarily with gears, housings such as cases and covers, and rotor head components such as hubs, spindles, and extensions from a wide range of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Understand and follow OEM specifications, systems, and processes.
  • Drive improvements in component production and reduce manufacturing costs throughout the processing cycle.
  • Support the manufacturing floor during component fabrication, including component rework or repair as needed.
  • Enter component BOMs and routings into the business unit's Enterprise Resource Planning system.
  • Create standard work processes for plant engineering and production personnel, as well as outside vendors.
  • Lead engineering projects focused on maintaining customer satisfaction objectives for quality and on-time delivery performance.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and program managers to incorporate customer requirements into manufacturing processes.
  • Support the sales team during the customer quotation process by providing in-house capability information and processing cycle time estimates.
  • Maintain lean principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quote new or revised components.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or related experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of manufacturing process experience; prior aerospace manufacturing experience is desired.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and basic Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Prior engineering software experience desired; CAD/CAM experience with Siemens NX is desired.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and, at times, stand and move.
  • Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
  • Moderate twisting and bending.
  • Ability to lift less than 30 pounds.
Work Environment
  • This role may involve working in a loud machining environment with exposure to aerospace metals, lubricants, and chemicals.
  • Required Personal Protective Equipment: safety glasses or shields, appropriate manufacturing closed-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection, or other protective equipment may be required as needed.
