Senior Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical assemblies and enclosures for electrical equipment. The ideal candidate has practical experience with sheet metal design, SolidWorks, and thermal analysis, and enjoys working with engineering teams to bring products from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Own mechanical design tasks from concept through production and provide technical guidance when needed.
- Design sheet metal enclosures, cabinets, brackets, and mechanical assemblies.
- Create 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks.
- Perform thermal analysis and help select suitable fans, heatsinks, and airflow arrangements.
- Work with electrical engineers on component placement, mounting, and cable routing.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and design improvements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Incorporate applicable safety standards and enclosure requirements into mechanical designs.
- Maintain drawings and documentation throughout product development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Experience with sheet metal design and common manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of heat transfer, cooling methods, and thermal simulation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical enclosures or electromechanical products.
- Experience supporting prototype development and production.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing and assembly.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, such as UL and IEC, and enclosure protection ratings (NEMA/IP).
