Location: Whippany, New Jersey
Salary: $160,000 - $190,000

Our client is a leading global designer and manufacturer of high-performance lifting and pulling devices for military and civilian aircraft, including rescue hoists, winches, and cargo hooks. Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical (Design) Engineer plans, develops, and conducts engineering and product development projects of significant importance to the organization. This role covers all phases of development, including requirements development, project planning, concept development, detailed design, prototyping, testing, transition to production, and aftermarket support. The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides planning, reporting, and management in addition to technical implementation, and is expected to recognize project success across financial, technical, and timeline management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Develop system architectures for new products and integrated systems, including advanced AC, DC, and hydraulic hoist and winch systems, cargo hooks, and related accessories
Translate customer needs into equipment and system specifications, conceptual designs, and detailed designs
Apply mechanical engineering principles to analyze forces, moments, and stresses throughout the development process
Perform 3D solid modeling, computer-based simulations including FEA, rapid prototyping, testing, and technical documentation
Identify and incorporate advanced materials, material processing techniques, coatings, and surface treatments into next-generation products
Develop and execute project plans that ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications
Provide project management support from concept through completion for both in-house and outsourced project work

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (advanced degrees preferred)
Approximately 10 years of experience in mechanical and/or systems engineering
Experience developing products in an ISO-9001 or AS9100 quality environment
Strong experience with design configuration management
Experience developing and fielding complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems in aerospace or defense
Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, organizational, project management, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills
Project management experience preferred, particularly with financial and budget-tracking tools
