Senior Mechanical Technician

Pay Range: $21.40hr - $26.40hr

Job Overview:

Fully proficient support individual contributor who works under limited supervision. May serve as a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Assignments are moderately difficult, requiring some judgment. Reports deviations from standard to the appropriate resource for review, instruction, and authorization, obtaining quality inspection when appropriate.

Work Environment:

• General supervision and instructions are given for routine work, and detailed instructions are given for new activities or special assignments.

Nature of Supervision:

• Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.

Communication & Influence:

• Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
• May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.

Innovation & Complexity:

• Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations and resolves most issues.

Organization Impact:

Requirements:

• Requires fully proficient job knowledge and skills.
• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Associate degree with a minimum of 3+ years of prior related experience.
• Working knowledge of electronic, optical, and mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• 3+ years of related experience in a repair field.
• Demonstrated soldering experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

• Performs computer activities with programs provided.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail to accurately follow required rework.
• Demonstrates proficiency in documentation of repairs.
• Works safely to prevent injuries and follows all safety regulations.
• Supports Lean manufacturing efforts through continuous process improvement.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, following prescribed safety procedures.
• Applies strong written and verbal communication skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Cultivates a culture that assures effective cross-functional teamwork.
• Performs job duties in a manner that complies with environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
