About the Position
New Hope Christian Church is seeking a Senior Pastor / Lead Teaching Elder to serve as the primary preacher and teacher of God's Word, visionary leader, and shepherd of the congregation. Working in partnership with the Elder Board, the Senior Pastor will lead the church in fulfilling its mission and vision through Bible-centered worship, discipleship, evangelism, and community impact.
The Senior Pastor serves as the church's "Paid Elder," working alongside the Elder Board to champion biblical elder leadership, equip the saints for ministry, and foster a culture of humility, unity, and spiritual maturity.

To be a people who know God and experience Him fully.
Primary Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
- Demonstrate total abandonment to the leading and teaching of the Holy Spirit for continual personal spiritual growth and the spiritual growth of the church.
Preaching and Teaching
- Deliver expository, Bible-centered sermons that are biblically faithful, doctrinally sound, and practically applicable.
- Oversee the overall teaching ministry of the church.
Vision and Leadership
- Implement New Hope's God-given mission and vision in collaboration with the Elders.
- Provide strategic leadership to staff, ministry leaders, and the congregation.
- Lead the church as guided by the Holy Spirit in partnership with the Elder Board.
Staff and Ministry Oversight
- Recruit, develop, and lead pastoral staff and key volunteers.
- Shepherd a staff of more than 20 members through mentoring, discipleship, and counseling.
- Equip lay leaders for works of service (Ephesians 4:11-16).
Elder Collaboration
- Serve as a member of the Board of Elders with equal voting authority.
- Participate fully in Elder meetings, shepherding decisions, church discipline, and safeguarding doctrinal purity.
Pastoral Care
- Provide and oversee biblical counseling, discipleship, and pastoral care, especially during times of crisis.
Outreach and Discipleship
- Lead the church in making disciples who make disciples, both locally and globally.
Administration
- Work alongside the Elders and staff in budgeting, stewardship, and healthy church governance.
Qualifications and Character
Candidates must meet or exceed the biblical qualifications for elders/overseers as outlined in:
- Titus 1:6-9
- 1 Timothy 3:2-7
- 1 Peter 5:2-4
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Genuine humility
- A vibrant personal walk with Christ through Bible study, prayer, and submission to Jesus Christ
- Integrity in both private and public life
- A proven track record of healthy family leadership and fruitful ministry
Theological and Doctrinal Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate:
- Commitment to the authority and inerrancy of Scripture
- Ability to teach sound doctrine and refute error
- Wholehearted alignment with the church's Essential Beliefs and Distinctives
Candidates must affirm the church's distinctives in writing, including:
- Congregational polity with elder spiritual leadership under the church Constitution
- Believer's baptism by immersion
- Complementarian leadership in the home and church
- The church's position on spiritual gifts etc.
Experience and Gifting
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent seminary degree (strongly preferred); biblical/theological training is required
- Eight to ten years of pastoral ministry experience
- Three to five years serving in a senior or lead pastoral role (or equivalent leadership experience)
- Demonstrated excellence in expository preaching
- Experience leading healthy church growth through discipleship and outreach
- Proven ability to lead collaboratively within a congregational polity in which the Elders provide spiritual leadership
- Experience developing staff and volunteer leaders

- Healthy rhythms of Sabbath, family life, church-wide involvement, and participation in small groups
What This Role Is Not
This position is not:
- A solo superstar performer
- A hire-and-fire CEO disconnected from elder accountability
- A leader who bypasses or undermines the Elder Board
