Electric Transmission & Distribution ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Transmission & Distribution Team, comprised of roughly 10,222 coworkers, is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of transmission lines.

Position Summary

The Operations Data Analyst extracts operations data for analysis, leadership support and responses to ad hoc data requests. The incumbent supports Substation Operations & System Inspections organization, including end to end inspection and maintenance strategies.  The incumbent maintains operations tools & databases ensuring that it is kept up-to-date using data from various PG&E systems. He/She develops, maintains and enhances operational metric database tools for the broader analytics team(s). The Analyst identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries.

•    PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manages data management projects from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed within budget and on-time.
•    DATA PROCESSING: Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
•    DATA EXTRACTS AND FILE TRANSFERS: Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts.
•    DATA ANALYSIS: Analyzes data using various statistical tools to develop ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles.
•    REPORTING: Develops and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Incumbent will expected to be in office several times a month.

Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.

Preference for incumbent to be based in Oakland, Dublin/Pleasanton, or San Ramon.  If incumbent is not based in the HQs stated- Oakland, Dublin/Pleasanton, or San Ramon they will be expected to occasionally travel to these HQs.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$105,000
Bay Area Maximum:$169,000

OR

California Minimum:$100,000
California Maximum: $161,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 
Job Responsibilities 

•    Manages complex data analysis projects with limited supervision from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed within budget and on-time.
•    Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences. Analyzes data using various statistical tools to develop ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles.
•    Manages complex data extracts and list pulls ensuring data accuracy. Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts cleansing.
•    Demonstrates and utilizes advanced knowledge of data processing and data analysis techniques.
•    Maintains data pipelines with ongoing reporting and dashboards to track organizational performance
•    Develops and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients.
•    Provides recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes.
•    Creates complex automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data
•    Demonstrates understanding and utilizes data analyses to support strategic decision-making to improve operational efficiencies

Background Qualifications-
 
Minimum

•    BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
•    4 years of related work experience
 

Desired 

•    Familiarity with utility operations. Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel/Access (complex formulas, graphing, VBA)
•    Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects
•    Advanced skill in writing Python queries for data manipulation, statical analysis and modelling
•    Advanced skill in Microsoft PowerBI (reporting, visualization, dashboarding)
•    Strong knowledge of Palantir Foundry tools
•    Strong organizational skills, ability to effectively prioritize work, meet deadlines and work on multiple tasks independently.
•    Good communications and presentation skills to deliver findings and make recommendations to stakeholders.
•    Project management skills.
