Job Title: Senior Oracle DBA
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)
About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA with deep Oracle GoldenGate experience to support mission-critical databases for a global technology services engagement.
You will administer Oracle 12c/19c/21c estates, run RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and Exadata, and own GoldenGate replication for real-time sync and near-zero-downtime migrations. GoldenGate-only or junior DBA profiles will not be a fit.
What You'll Do:
- Administer Oracle 12c / 19c / 21c across Production, DR, UAT, and Development.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain databases.
- Manage RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and Exadata.
- Own RMAN backup, restore, and recovery; capacity and health checks.
- Design, implement, and support Oracle GoldenGate (Extract, Pump, Replicat).
- Configure uni- and bidirectional replication; support GoldenGate Microservices.
- Resolve replication latency, sync, and data-consistency issues.
- Support zero-downtime migrations and cutovers with GoldenGate.
- Plan Data Guard switchover/failover and DR drills.
- Tune using AWR, ASH, OEM, and GoldenGate reports.
- Support migrations (Oracle-to-Oracle, DB2-to-Oracle, Exadata, cloud/hybrid).
- Write runbooks, cutover, and rollback plans.
- Act as customer-facing DBA liaison; coordinate with offshore DBA/middleware teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years Oracle database administration in enterprise production environments.
- Hands-on Oracle 12c/19c/21c, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, OEM, RMAN.
- Deep Oracle GoldenGate administration: design, implementation, monitoring, tuning, patching.
- Experience with Active-Active and Active-Passive replication and heterogeneous replication.
- Performance tuning and complex incident / RCA work.
- Linux/Unix and shell scripting.
- Ability to support HA/DR and migration cutovers with minimal downtime.
- Strong customer-facing communication.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exadata, OCI, and/or GCP.
- Ansible / automation; ServiceNow ITSM; Control-M.
- Healthcare, pharmaceutical, supply chain, or ERP estates.
- JD Edwards (JDE).
- Oracle-to-Oracle or DB2-to-Oracle migrations.
