Artheon is seeking a highly motivated Senior Planner to join our dynamic Planning Department Team. Our Planning Department offers wide range of planning services to our clients from preparation of comprehensive master plans, redevelopment plans, and affordable housing services to providing board services to various Planning and Zoning Boards. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with good communication skills interested in working with a range of planning projects. Must have AICP. Must have New York State planning licensure. (P.P). This position will be located at our Albany, New York office.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to municipal clients, manage planning projects from inception through implementation, facilitate public outreach, prepare technical planning documents, and mentor junior staff. 

Responsibilities


  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of zoning regulations, land development codes, and comprehensive plans to provide expert guidance on land use and development projects.
  • Lead and coordinate the planning process for various projects, including preparing applications, attending meetings with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and public hearings to gather input from stakeholders and promote transparent communication throughout the planning process.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in urban planning and land use policies to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative planning strategies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide exceptional planning services.
  • Prepare and present planning reports, represent projects before municipal boards, and provide expert testimony and guidance throughout the approval process.

Qualifications


  • A bachelor's degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Must have certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).  New York Planning Licensure required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in urban planning or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully managing planning projects from inception to completion.
  • Proficiency in conducting spatial analysis, land use assessments, and demographic studies using GIS software and other analytical tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to effectively convey complex planning concepts to diverse audiences and stakeholders.

The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
