A privately-owned, leading global staffing firm is actively hiring talented professionals to join its growing Public Policy and Government Affairs team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in policy, government affairs, advocacy, campaigns, or business development who are passionate about transportation, public transit, urban planning, sustainability, and community impact.

Important Details:

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Location: Hybrid; New York City, NY

Pay Rate Range: $70 - $85/hr.

Responsibilities:

• Represent the organization in interactions with elected officials, government representatives, and their staff through in-person meetings, events, and remote lobbying.
• Attend high-profile events and engage directly with key elected and appointed leaders.
• Develop and execute public policy and advocacy strategies to improve the regulatory environment for the organization.
• Monitor and track relevant legislation at the municipal, county, and state levels while engaging directly with elected officials at City Halls and State Houses.
• Partner with senior management to develop public policy priorities that support business operations and organizational interests.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, marketing, communications, and operations teams to develop and execute market strategies.
• Lead or co-lead one to two nationally scoped internal policy workstreams.
• Manage external policy consultants responsible for coordinating meetings with elected officials, tracking legislation, and executing lobbying campaigns aligned with business priorities.
• Develop and advocate for policies supporting the growth of biking and walking, public transit, and emerging mobility solutions by building relationships with elected officials and nonprofit leaders and leading advocacy campaigns.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in policy, government affairs, campaigns, or business development.
• Strong relationships with transportation, government, and advocacy stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and highly strategic with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, demanding, and unstructured environments.
• Self-motivated team player with strong execution and prioritization skills.
• Strong negotiation and deal-closing abilities with excellent relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently, including on short notice.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively advocate and tell a compelling story.
• Passion for transportation, public transit, urban planning, politics, and sustainability.
