Job Summary
Provide instrumentation and controls engineering services, including technical support and supervision within the instrumentation and controls engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instrumentation and controls engineering services that meet applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Initiate, manage, and, if required, supervise instrumentation and controls engineering project requirements.
- Perform instrumentation and controls engineering services, such as participating in relevant meetings, preparing progress reports, and following required checking procedures.
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, such as writing requisitions, conducting technical bid evaluations, and writing purchase orders.
- Complete additional responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
- Function as the instrumentation and controls engineering lead on specific projects.
- Outline project requirements, actively promote workshare where appropriate, assign tasks, and supervise progress.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the instrumentation and controls engineering field.
- Assist and support junior personnel within the instrumentation and controls engineering team.
- Communicate effectively with the instrumentation and controls engineering team and project stakeholders, including customers.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
- May serve as a technical consultant within area of expertise and make formal presentations to customers or company management.
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Extensive years of relevant discipline experience.
- Experience working in a project leadership role.
- Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
- Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills with the ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work.
- A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of instrumentation and controls engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
- A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Competent use of instrumentation and controls engineering-specific software.
- Competent use of relevant software, such as the MS Office Suite.
- Substantial technical and practical experience in instrumentation and controls engineering in the same or similar industry, including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Required: BS or MS in a related field or applicable discipline, typically an engineering degree; or equivalent experience if allowed by law.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States is preferred.
