Therma, a Legence company, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Design Engineer with +8 years of experience in the process piping industry. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who excels in mentoring engineers, overseeing projects, and engaging directly with clients to deliver high-quality solutions. This role encompasses every phase of the design-build project process, from initial design to fabrication support. As an integral member of our engineering team, you will oversee the entire design process - from conceptualization to the finalization of detailed design and construction documents. Additionally, you will coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines - including mechanical, electrical, piping, structural, controls, and ownership groups - contributing to efficient and timely project progress in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Process mechanical and piping system designs
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and energy load calculations
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to engineers, project managers, and project executives to improve product quality, efficiency and performance
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality assurance, and budget adherence
  • Develop cost estimates for new projects and provide project budgetary and financial oversight
  • Interface with clients and project stakeholders to develop innovative and sustainable process designs
  • Generate, review and approve technical drawings, submittals, and specifications as required to ensure compliance with project goals
  • Evaluate project submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to determine conformance with contract documents and design requirements
  • Research and analyze customer project requirements, specifications, and data to assess feasibility, program application, and maintenance requirements
  • Oversight and development of factory acceptance testing (FAT) documentation, provide support during customer site acceptance testing (SAT), generation of final turnover package (TOP) documentation for assigned projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems, implement solutions, and optimize project outcomes
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and energy-efficient building solutions
  • Providing technical guidance and professional development support to the team

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in a related Engineering field (i.e. Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably with process equipment design and fabrication
  • Developing and interpreting P&ID's
  • Proficiency with professional drawing packages (i.e.Solidworks, AutoCAD, Revit and Bluebeam)
  • Document Technical Review & Quality Control
  • Project cost estimation and budgetary management
  • Expertise in Project Coordination and Project Management
  • Experience in client relations and relationship management
  • Positive attitude, team player, commitment to achieving a common goal
  • Engineering Team Development, Mentoring, and Leadership
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of various types of process instrumentation, process automation and controls systems

Base salary: $150k-$180k per year.
