About the Opportunity

Our client is approximately 37-person, high-growth developer tools and AI company seeking Senior Product Engineers to build products for developers and engineering teams.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on engineer who has taken meaningful products from concept to production in a startup, scale-up, or hypergrowth environment. Successful candidates will combine strong product judgment, recent React expertise, backend depth, and experience making architecture decisions. They must also demonstrate applied AI experience or substantial experience with agentic or coding-agent workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own developer-facing products and features from ideation and technical design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.

• Build full-stack applications using React, modern frontend technologies, and robust backend systems.

• Translate developer needs into intuitive interfaces, APIs, SDKs, and tooling.

• Make systems-design and architecture decisions that support reliability, maintainability, and growth.

• Develop applied AI capabilities or improve agentic and coding-agent workflows.

• Partner with product, design, and engineering colleagues to define requirements, prioritize work, and deliver useful products.

• Gather user feedback and refine products after launch.

• Balance delivery speed with engineering quality and sound technical decisions.

• Remain directly involved in coding, troubleshooting, and production delivery.

Required Qualifications

• At least seven years of relevant, hands-on full-stack product engineering experience.

• Demonstrated ownership of a meaningful product built from concept to production in a startup or high-growth environment.

• Personal responsibility for product decisions across ideation, launch, and subsequent iteration.

• Strong, recent experience with React and modern frontend development.

• Meaningful backend engineering experience alongside frontend expertise.

• Experience making consequential systems-design and architecture decisions.

• Experience building products used by developers or engineers.

• Familiarity with building APIs, SDKs, or developer-facing tooling.

• Experience at a developer tools or infrastructure startup building products for engineers.

• A specific example of shipped applied AI functionality or substantial agentic or coding-agent workflow experience.

• Ability to work on-site in New York City five days per week.

• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

• Compensation expectations consistent with the stated base salary range.

Experience Expectations

Candidates should be prepared to explain what they personally built, owned, decided, and shipped.

Qualifying product ownership involves taking a meaningful product from an idea into production. Prototypes, proofs of concept, hackathon projects, maintenance work, or team achievements without clear individual ownership do not satisfy this requirement.

Big Tech experience is welcome when accompanied by meaningful startup, scale-up, or hypergrowth experience. Candidates must bring both recent frontend experience and substantial backend depth.

Developer-facing experience means building products or tools for engineers; simply consuming APIs or SDKs is insufficient. Similarly, routine use of AI assistants or autocomplete tools does not establish the required AI experience. Candidates should demonstrate applied AI work or a substantial, concrete improvement to an engineering workflow.

Relocation

Candidates outside New York City may be considered if they are firmly committed to relocating and working on-site five days per week.
