The below job summary and responsibilities reflects the duties of a Senior Product Manager, Product Manager will differ as less skills and/or experience will be required. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.

Position Summary

This role serves as the Product Manager for the Xcel Vision Suite (XVS), Xcel Energy's integrated planning platform that connects shared data, orchestration, and tools to enable coordinated planning across generation, transmission, distribution, and gas.

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for owning product direction and requirements across this multi-domain planning ecosystem, with a strong focus on understanding utility planning workflows, extracting requirements from subject-matter experts, and shaping them into coherent, prioritized product capabilities. The role partners closely with planning organizations, Data Science & Modeling Innovation, Data & Applications Engineering, and external consulting partners to guide delivery and ensure XVS evolves as a cohesive, high-value product portfolio. Much of this work is data‑centric, and the role requires comfort working at the intersection of planning workflows, data products, and analytics‑driven applications.

This role is well suited for someone who understands regulated utility planning and modeling workflows, can navigate ambiguity across domains, and can translate complex modeling and planning needs into clear, actionable product scope.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management: Partner with business areas, customers and other stakeholders to understand needs and opportunities. Establish and maintain collaborative partnership with internal partners. Provide coaching and work direction to less experienced team members.

  • Solution Delivery: Lead efforts in end-to-end solution lifecycle from strategic planning, through demand management, delivery lifecycle activities, and operation. Ensure solutions drive great user experience and operational performance. Drive speed to deployments and continuous delivery to meet changing customer and stakeholder needs.

  • Strategy & Planning: Lead efforts to understand operational health, customer satisfaction, and total cost of operation and build awareness of opportunities and risks. Represent business partners/stakeholders in strategic planning and investment prioritization.

  • Operations Management: Drive alignment with stakeholders on maintenance activities and schedules. Ensure delivery practices uphold continuous integration of operational functions. Provide escalated support as needed to drive restoration of service disruptions.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Stay abreast of industry and technology trends to continuously improve solution delivery practices and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements - Senior Product Manager ($112,200 - $159,400)

  • Ten years of related functional experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.

  • Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill set, and able to translate between technical and non-technical concepts.

  • Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results.

  • Experience with Project or Product delivery practices, including SDLC, Agile and Waterfall Demonstrated ability to recommend innovative solutions to support complex business requirements.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement through lean, agile, six sigma.

  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of end-to-end process and system capabilities, industry standards and emerging technologies and methods.

  • Expertise in technical, functional, and operational details of respective solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build functional and technical subject matter expertise, process and tools expertise, and drive consistency in processes.

  • Experience with strategic planning, demand management, execution, and operation of IT solutions.

  • Experience with contract and vendor management In-depth expertise on core IT components within the respective domain.

Minimum Requirements - Product Manager ($97,600 - $138,600)

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.

  • Seven years of related functional experience.

  • Experience with Project or Product delivery practices, including SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall.

  • Demonstrated ability to recommend innovative solutions to meet business needs.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement through lean and agile practices.

  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of end-to-end process and system capabilities, as well as industry standards and emerging technologies and methods.

  • Strong understanding of technical, functional, and operational details of respective solutions.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build functional and technical subject matter expertise, process and tools expertise, and drive consistency in processes.

  • In-depth knowledge or the ability to quickly attain expertise on core IT components within the respective domain.

  • Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill set, and able to translate between technical and non-technical concepts.

  • Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience working in utility planning, utility modeling, or utility planning technology, with exposure to one or more planning domains such as generation, transmission, distribution, or gas in a regulated environment.

  • Familiarity with utility planning and modeling ecosystems (e.g., capacity expansion, production cost, load forecasting, network or infrastructure planning tools such as EnCompass, PROMOD, PSSE, Synergi Gas, CYME, or similar) and how these tools fit into real planning workflows.

  • Demonstrated ability to elicit, synthesize, and reconcile requirements from diverse subject‑matter experts, translating planning concepts, modeling assumptions, and workflows into clear product requirements (problem statements, MVP scope, acceptance criteria, and success metrics).

  • Experience defining and managing MVPs and product roadmaps for complex, technical products, including data platforms, analytics/modeling capabilities, and analytics‑driven or user‑facing applications (experience with Databricks or similar platforms is a plus).

  • Experience evaluating vendor tools and market offerings and working with consulting or system integration teams, including scope definition, acceptance criteria, and handoff expectations.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $97,600.00 to $159,400.00 per year
