KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Senior Product Manager - Tax-Aware Investing & Portfolio Optimization

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager, Tax-Aware Portfolio Optimization to lead the product definition and development of our tax-aware investment capabilities.

This role is focused on building a product framework that helps users understand the potential tax impact of portfolio decisions, including tax-loss harvesting opportunities, wash sale risks, holding period considerations, realized / unrealized gains and losses, and tax-aware rebalancing.

This is not a role for creating tax-driven trading recommendations or replacing tax professionals. The goal is to build tax-aware portfolio optimization and decision-support workflows that are clear, explainable, compliance-aware, and human-controlled.

You will work closely with product, AI, engineering, data, quant, legal / compliance, and external tax professionals to define how tax considerations are incorporated into our Portfolio Optimization, Risk Review, and Decision Center experiences.

Traditional Product Manager experience is not required. We welcome candidates with deep U.S. investment tax expertise from RIAs, family offices, wealth management firms, brokerages, or investment platforms who have strong product instincts and are excited to help build AI-powered investment products.

What You Will Own

  • Define our tax-aware portfolio optimization product strategy and roadmap
  • Build product requirements for tax impact review, tax-aware rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting candidate detection, wash sale risk alerts, and holding period awareness
  • Define how tax-related insights appear in Portfolio Optimization, Risk Review, and Decision Center workflows
  • Translate U.S. investment tax concepts into clear product logic, data requirements, and user-facing explanations
  • Work with engineering and data teams to define requirements for cost basis, tax lots, acquisition date, realized / unrealized gain-loss, transaction history, holding period, and account type data
  • Partner with AI Product to define the tax-aware reasoning, decision logic, and structured, explainable outputs of AI-powered tax-aware agents.
  • Work with legal, compliance, and external tax professionals to ensure product boundaries are clear and risk-managed
  • Define user experience principles for tax-aware investment decisions, including estimates, assumptions, confidence levels, limitations, and professional tax-advisor reminders
  • Help prevent users from misinterpreting our outputs as formal tax advice or guaranteed tax savings
  • Build a product framework that starts with U.S. taxable brokerage accounts and can later expand to more advanced tax-aware investing use cases

Initial Product Scope
The first version of this product area will focus on:
  • U.S. taxable brokerage accounts
  • Equities and ETFs
  • Tax impact review
  • Tax-aware portfolio optimization
  • Tax-loss harvesting candidate detection
  • Wash sale risk awareness
  • Short-term vs. long-term holding period awareness
  • Realized and unrealized gain-loss summaries
  • Tax-aware rebalance review
  • Decision Center tax impact explanations
  • Clear 'not tax advice 'and' consult your tax professional' user-facing boundaries

Out of Scope for MVP
The first version will not focus on:
  • Retirement accounts such as IRA, Roth IRA, 401(k), or similar accounts
  • Trusts, entities, or cross-border tax scenarios
  • Full tax filing or tax return preparation
  • Guaranteed tax savings calculations
  • Options tax planning or complex derivatives tax treatment
  • Tax-driven trade recommendations
  • Automatically generated orders based solely on tax objectives
  • Replacing CPAs, tax advisors, or tax attorneys

Key Product Principles
  • We provide ax-aware decision support, not formal tax advice
  • Tax-aware insights should inform portfolio decisions, not override risk management
  • Tax considerations may influence recommendations, but should not independently trigger trades
  • Users remain the final decision-makers
  • Outputs must be structured, explainable, and bounded by clear assumptions
  • Product language should avoid promising tax savings or encouraging high-risk trades for tax purposes
  • Federal investment tax logic should be built first, with state-level considerations handled carefully and reviewed by tax professionals.

What Success Looks

  • Map required data inputs, including cost basis, tax lots, acquisition dates, realized / unrealized gain-loss, transaction history, holding period, and account type

  • Improve user trust through clearer after-tax decision context and risk-aware explanations

  • Help us become more useful for professional investors, advisors, and high-value taxable brokerage account user

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving, early-stage product environment

  • Experience with brokerage tax products, tax-loss harvesting, tax-aware portfolio management, automated investing, robo-advisory, or wealthtech products

  • Comfortable building product logic from ambiguous domain requirements
  • Clear communicator who can simplify complex tax concepts without overpromising
  • Practical, structured, and careful with edge cases
  • Comfortable balancing user value, tax complexity, product feasibility, and risk

Not a Fit If
  • You want to build tax-driven trading recommendations rather than tax-aware decision support You are uncomfortable working with legal, compliance, or external tax professionals
  • You lack experience with investment tax, brokerage accounts, portfolio data, or financial product logic
  • You prefer broad product strategy over detailed domain modeling and product requirements
