    Job Description

Device Technologies (DT) provides the infrastructure that lets Amazon"s operations teams provision, deploy, and manage the edge devices, robotics, and material-handling equipment they run on. We build the connectivity, observability, and scale underneath them, so builder teams can bring their hardware online and keep it running across Amazon"s worldwide operations and the deliveries customers depend on. Our products are in use across fulfillment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, and grocery sites. We"re part of Operations Infrastructure Services (OIS), and we"re hiring a Senior Product Manager, Technical to own a product in this portfolio and the customer experience that goes with it.

Our job is to make Amazon"s frontline technology self-service and dependable. Operators should set up, recover, and manage their own devices without waiting on us, and a device that fails should be back at work in minutes. You"ll set the strategy and roadmap for your area, decide which problems matter most, and work backward from the people who run our sites every day: process-path owners, application teams, and site operators. The work is technical and the stakes are operational - when there"s a device issue on-site, packages stop moving.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for your product area, working backward from the needs of Amazon"s operations customers and the economics of running a global fulfillment network.
    • Partner with engineering and science teams to shape functional and non-functional requirements, make architecture trade-offs across reliability, scale, and cost, and hold a high bar for the quality of what ships.
    • Move DT"s core outcomes measurably forward: empowering builder teams to move fast on their own (self-service), returning devices to productive work quickly when they fail (availability), and lowering the cost to serve each site.
    • Decide where AI, including agentic and generative capabilities, genuinely improves the product or the speed at which your team builds, and where it adds risk or complexity that isn"t worth it.
    • Define the metrics that tell you whether the product is working, instrument them, and use site-level data and operator feedback to decide what to build next.

    A day in the life

No two days are the same, but most begin with data from the floor. You might start with overnight numbers from a site rollout: adoption, device health, ticket volume, and the questions they raise about what to prioritize next. By mid-morning you"re in a design review, pushing engineering on whether a recovery flow holds up under the conditions of a live building. The afternoon is for writing: a PR/FAQ for a capability you want funded, or a document that works through a trade-off you need leadership to weigh in on. You end the day with your partners in operations and the application teams who build on DT, making sure what you"re about to ship will land cleanly in the sites that depend on it.

Amazon offers a full range of benefits for you and eligible family members, including domestic partners. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment.

The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include:

    1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage

    2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options

    3. Paid Time Off (PTO)

    4. 401(k) Plan

If you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we"d still love to hear from you! At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you're passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!

    About the team

We own a portfolio that spans the connectivity, observability, and management layers that keep Amazon"s operations devices, robotics, and material-handling equipment running across the network. We provide reliable, cost-effective infrastructure and device platforms to the operations teams we support, and the roadmap ahead is larger than what we"ve shipped so far. You"ll report directly to the head of product for Device Technologies.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
