    Job Description

The Advanced Scientific Computing, also known as High-Performance Computing, team is looking for a talented product manager to help us develop and advance AWS Parallel Computing Service (PCS). As a Senior Product Manager Technical - External Services, you will own product development from strategy/product vision through feature definition, prioritization, positioning, naming, and GTM/adoption. We are looking for an experienced product manager who is passionate about solving customer problems, and has demonstrated success working backwards from ambiguous customer needs, translating them into disruptive, successful products that delight customers. You will have the curiosity to dig into complex business problems, challenge the status quo, and bias towards using data to simplify the customer experience.

Working closely with and across agile teams, you will be able to see and feel the impact of your work on our customers. This is a high visibility and high impact role that will interact with all levels of AWS leadership. Our ideal candidate is excited about the incredible opportunity cloud computing represents and is deeply passionate about delivering the highest quality services. You're naturally customer-centric and thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and solid communication skills.

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future. Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here.

    Key job responsibilities

    1. Defining new features by researching on customer needs and drafting detailed feature requirements documents.

    2. Engaging customers through various channels - direct engagement, support tickets, sales calls, social media forums - to identify key features necessary to grow adoption and organizing them into clear product roadmaps.

    3. Presenting the service to new customer prospects, and educating customers on service capabilities that meet their needs.

    4. Working cross functionally within AWS to drive roadmaps collaboratively.

    5. Defining new pricing models or refining existing pricing schemes to match product pricing with customer value.

    6. Working with marketing team to define new go-to-market strategies for scaling business adoption.

    7. Closely working with the engineering team and UX designers in making design tradeoffs, feature scoping, and requirements.

    8. Participating in industry events and conferences and promoting the service.

    9. Conducting regular business analysis, track adoption metrics, and report key trends to service leadership.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
