Job Overview:
The Senior Product Owner, Supply Chain owns a defined product area within Exostar's supply chain portfolio, which helps Aerospace and Defense manufacturers collaborate with their customers and suppliers. Product areas include procure-to-pay automation, order-to-cash automation, manufacturing visibility, and logistics and transportation visibility. You are the accountable decision maker for what the engineering team builds, in what order, and why. You will own the backlog and the KPIs for your area, and you will see each release through acceptance testing, launch, adoption, and support. You will work every day with Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, Support, and customers, and you will work within the Supply Chain product management team.
Responsibilities:
Your day, if you join us:
- Product Ownership: Own the backlog and roadmap for your product area. Decide what is built, in what order, and what is not built, and explain the trade-offs to stakeholders.
- Outcomes and KPIs: Define and track KPIs for your area, such as feature adoption, customer onboarding time, transaction volume, defect rates, and support case trends. Use them to set priorities and report results to your manager.
- Requirements: Turn customer and business needs into user stories with clear acceptance criteria. Produce functional requirements, use cases, interface designs, and software requirements specifications when the work calls for them. Write them so that engineers can build without repeated clarification.
- Sprint and Release Planning: Prioritize work for each sprint and release, resolve open questions with developers during the sprint, and decide when a release is ready to ship.
- Customer Engagement: Meet regularly with Aerospace and Defense manufacturers and their suppliers to understand how they run procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and visibility processes today. Bring that evidence into prioritization decisions. Demonstrate the product to customers, prospects, and internal teams.
- New Capability: Lead new features and products from problem definition through launch, and test with customers before committing to a full build.
- Technical Partnership: Work with developers and subject matter experts to carry out the technical vision, including trade-offs between usability and performance. Specify data requirements and integration changes, including EDI and API connections with customer systems.
- Acceptance Testing and Release Readiness: Plan and run user acceptance testing with internal teams and customers. Confirm that documentation, training material, release notes, and support readiness are in place before launch.
- Support and Quality: Prioritize support requests and defects by customer impact, and decide what to fix now, schedule, or decline.
- AI in Product Work: Use AI tools to speed up backlog work, such as drafting and refining user stories and acceptance criteria, finding patterns in support cases and customer feedback, summarizing customer conversations, and preparing test scenarios. Also, drive AI-enabled features that improve procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and visibility workflows, such as document and data extraction, exception detection, and forecasting.
- Regulatory Context: Reflect the compliance requirements our Aerospace and Defense customers operate under, such as export controls and controlled data handling, in product requirements. Work with Security and Compliance on questions that affect design.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Keep Sales, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, and Operations informed of priorities, release content, and customer commitments through the team's standard intake process and Jira practices.
Basic Qualifications:
You meet our "must haves" for the role if:
- 8+ years of experience in product ownership, product management, or business analysis, including at least 3 years as the accountable owner of a backlog and its priorities.
- Domain experience in manufacturing or supply chain processes, such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, production and shipment visibility, or logistics.
- Experience owning a B2B SaaS or cloud application.
- A track record of delivering zero-to-one features or products.
- Experience defining and tracking KPIs for a product and using them to make prioritization decisions.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate business needs into application and operational requirements.
- Experience with Agile development and with Jira and Confluence or similar.
- Experience using AI tools in product ownership work, such as drafting requirements, analyzing customer and support data, or preparing test scenarios, with sound judgment about when to trust the output and when to verify it.
- Strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to work with executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications: You’re exactly who we’re looking for if:
