SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT
CORBeL Architects specializes in the design of various project types, including but not limited to commercial, mixed-use, multi-family, and hospitality developments. The firm is currently seeking a motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented Senior Project Architect to join its team.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a profound passion for the field of architecture and bring extensive knowledge of architectural design and construction, with experience leading projects from concept through completion. Furthermore, the candidates are expected to exhibit strong problem-solving abilities along with a refined design sensibility. This position requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with the clients, consultants/engineers, and internal team members.
A Senior Project Architect will collaborate closely with the Principal, Project Managers, Job Captains, and the design team to create outstanding projects of various scales and technical complexities. The ideal candidate for this position will be an effective communicator, a strategic thinker, and a collaborative problem solver, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quality.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
- Collaborate with the Principal and team to fully understand the individuality of the client project and the development of the programmatic direction
- Lead and provide mentorship, redlining, and technical guidance to junior team members
- Lead the development of design and construction documents from concept through construction administration
- Conduct preliminary design studies
- Analyze and prepare program, space planning, and area calculations
- Conduct code and zoning analysis in compliance with applicable regulations
- Collaborate closely with team members and consultants to ensure coordinated, high-quality project delivery throughout all project phases while maintaining the project delivery schedule
- Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
- Coordinate with consultants' work and integrate engineering systems into architectural drawings
- Oversee entitlement and building permit processes; respond to city and housing authority comments efficiently
- Prepare requests for pricing and review of shop drawings during construction
- Utilize 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts
- Oversee document quality, accuracy, and consistency with office standards
- Site visits and participation in client and consultants' meetings as required
- Identifies and mitigates project risks that may affect timelines, budgets, or quality
- Engage in ongoing firm activities, project reviews, and advancement of firm culture
- Participate in marketing efforts and may lead presentations to prospective clients
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed architects with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture
- Strong mentoring skills to support and guide junior staff
- Highly proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD, and BIM360
- Proficient in SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Google Workspace
- Extensive experience in design development, detailing, and construction documentation
- Ability to develop concise construction documents to a very high level of detail
- Strong familiarity with building & zoning codes, specifications, building and engineering systems
- Ability to work under pressure and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to interact with clients, consultants and manage project communication
- Ability to work closely with the firm's Principal and internal team from schematic design through construction administration
