Job Description

Summary

Our client is an established Southern California general contractor and electrical contractor with more than 30 years of experience delivering complex private and public construction projects. Their portfolio includes manufacturing, aerospace, municipal, education, healthcare, and other commercial and industrial projects throughout California and select locations in Arizona. They are seeking a Senior Project Manager with a strong background managing large-scale construction projects and complex project teams. The ideal candidate will have experience with a reputable general contractor or construction organization and bring strong leadership, financial management, scheduling, client communication, and project execution skills. Electrical construction experience is beneficial but not required for candidates with strong commercial or industrial project management experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall management and execution of large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Manage projects from preconstruction and contract award through construction, commissioning, and final closeout.
  • Establish project objectives, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Project Engineers, Project Coordinators, Superintendents, subcontractors, and other project team members.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Review contracts, plans, specifications, scopes, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Oversee procurement, subcontractor buyout, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project financial performance, commitments, forecasting, and cost controls.
  • Track project schedules and work with field leadership to maintain progress and address delays.
  • Identify project risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Lead project meetings and provide clear updates to clients and company leadership.
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams to resolve technical, logistical, and constructability issues.
  • Assist with preconstruction activities, estimating, scope development, value engineering, and project handoff.
  • Ensure projects meet contractual, safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Oversee project closeout, punch-list completion, final documentation, and client turnover.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive construction project management experience.
  • Previous experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, institutional, or public works projects.
  • Strong background with a reputable General Contractor, Construction Manager, or Electrical Contractor.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple trades and subcontractors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, change management, and project controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial construction processes.
  • Proven ability to manage project financials, budgets, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent client-facing, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with Procore and Microsoft Office or similar construction management platforms preferred.
  • Electrical construction experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to work fully onsite in Brea, CA.
  • Ability to travel to project sites throughout California and occasionally Arizona as needed.
