    Description

    Overview
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a high-visibility data and business transformation initiative. This role requires a strong operator who can bring structure to ambiguity, drive cross-functional alignment, and enforce disciplined execution across a technically driven team.
This is not a passive coordination role. The ideal candidate thrives in under-defined environments, can organize fragmented inputs, enforce accountability, and drive work toward clear, structured outcomes.
You will partner with technical leads, business stakeholders, and executive leadership to translate ideas into actionable plans, documented requirements, and executive-ready deliverables.

    Key Responsibilities
    Project Execution & Structure
    • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables
    • Translate loosely defined ideas into structured execution frameworks
    • Establish governance, workflows, and accountability mechanisms
    • Drive decision-making and actively prevent scope creep

    Requirements & Documentation
    • Lead requirements gathering across technical and business stakeholders
    • Document and maintain:
      • Business and functional requirements
      • Assumptions, risks, and dependencies
      • Decisions and open questions
    • Ensure full traceability from requirements through execution

    Stakeholder Management & Accountability
    • Coordinate across technical teams, business units, and leadership
    • Hold stakeholders accountable to timelines, deliverables, and decisions
    • Facilitate outcome-driven meetings with clear next steps
    • Proactively escalate risks, blockers, and delays

    Executive Communication & Deliverables
    • Develop leadership-ready materials, including:
      • Project updates
      • Decision memos
      • Executive presentations
    • Translate technical input into clear, business-focused narratives

    Financial Awareness & Forecast Support
    • Support project reporting and forecasting readiness
    • Ensure alignment between:
      • Planned work
      • Actual progress
      • Upcoming needs
    • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks in projections
    • Partner with finance stakeholders as needed (non-owning role)

    Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement
    • Introduce structured, repeatable workflows to improve execution
    • Ensure work is documented, not dependent on individual knowledge
    • Improve consistency in tracking, communication, and delivery

    Systemization & Continuity
    • Build and maintain a living project operating model, including:
      • Workflows
      • Documentation standards
      • Decision logs
    • Ensure all work supports rapid knowledge transfer
    • Contribute to a reusable delivery framework for future projects

    Operating System Responsibility
This role is responsible not only for project delivery, but for building a repeatable operating model that enables continuity, scalability, and rapid onboarding of new resources.
All work must be structured so another resource can step in with minimal disruption.

    Tools & Systems Experience
    Required experience with:
    • Project management tools (Jira, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, etc.)
    • Documentation platforms (Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams)
    • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (advanced proficiency)
    Preferred:
    • Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools
    • Power Apps, Power Automate, or workflow automation tools
    • Exposure to enterprise systems (SAP) or engineering/data platforms (AVEVA)
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to use tools to drive structure, accountability, and clarity, not just track work.

    Required Qualifications
    • 7+ years of project management experience in complex, cross-functional environments
    • Proven ability to bring structure to ambiguous or undefined workstreams
    • Experience working with technical teams (engineering, data, systems, etc.)
    • Strong experience in:
      • Requirements gathering
      • Documentation and traceability
      • Stakeholder coordination
      • Execution tracking and follow-through
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to hold teams accountable and drive execution

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in data, analytics, or system implementation projects
    • Experience in utilities, infrastructure, or operations-heavy environments
    • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or project financial reporting
    • PMP or equivalent certification (preferred, not required)

    Ideal Candidate Profile
    • Thrives in ambiguity and creates clarity quickly
    • Assertive, structured, and execution-focused
    • Comfortable working with highly technical teams
    • Able to translate ideas into actionable plans and documentation
    • Strong follow-through and accountability mindset
    • Capable of building executive-level narratives from fragmented inputs

    What This Role Is Not
    • Not a passive meeting coordinator
    • Not an engineering design role
    • Not a purely administrative PMO role
    • Not a finance ownership role

    Success Metrics (First 90 Days)
    30 Days
    • Establish project structure, cadence, and documentation framework
    • Identify key gaps, risks, and missing inputs
    60 Days
    • Implement requirements traceability and accountability mechanisms
    • Improve stakeholder alignment and execution discipline
    90 Days
    • Deliver executive-ready project narrative and structured outputs
    • Position project for leadership confidence and funding readiness
    • Ensure project is not dependent on any single individual
    • Enable 24-hour resource transition capability
    • Establish clear definitions of done across deliverables
    • Build a reusable project structure for future engagements
