Job Description: Seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Database Engineering & Technology to lead and coordinate strategic technology initiatives across the Database Engineering organization. This role will partner closely with Database Engineering leadership, database engineers, application teams, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, architecture, vendors, and other technology stakeholders to successfully deliver enterprise database initiatives.
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for driving complex, cross-functional initiatives associated with database technology modernization, lifecycle management, standards and governance, patching, platform implementations, automation, cloud adoption, operational excellence, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled database operations.
This position requires a strong technology orientation and the ability to translate technical objectives into structured programs with clear scope, milestones, ownership, dependencies, risks, metrics, and measurable business outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities:- Lead complex, enterprise-level Database Engineering and technology projects from initiation through planning, execution, implementation, and operational transition.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, risks, issues, and executive-level status reporting.
- Coordinate initiatives across Database Engineering, Application Development, Cloud, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Service Management, and other technology organizations.
- Drive enterprise database lifecycle and modernization initiatives, including technology upgrades, migrations, platform refreshes, end-of-life remediation, cloud adoption, and technical debt reduction.
- Coordinate enterprise database patching and maintenance programs, ensuring appropriate planning, application coordination, testing, scheduling, risk management, communications, and completion tracking.
- Lead projects associated with the development, implementation, and adoption of database standards, engineering guidelines, reference architectures, governance processes, and technology best practices.
- Manage the evaluation, onboarding, implementation, and operationalization of new database technologies, products, platforms, tools, and capabilities.
- Lead and coordinate AI and automation initiatives for Database Operations, including opportunities to improve monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, capacity management, performance optimization, patching, lifecycle management, operational analytics, and engineering productivity.
- Partner with Database Engineering teams to identify opportunities where AI, intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and agentic capabilities can reduce manual operational activities and improve database reliability and efficiency.
- Establish measurable success criteria and KPIs for technology initiatives, including adoption, automation, operational efficiency, risk reduction, lifecycle compliance, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Facilitate technical and executive-level meetings, ensuring decisions, action items, risks, dependencies, and ownership are clearly documented and managed through completion.
- Identify project risks, constraints, and cross-team dependencies early and drive appropriate mitigation and escalation strategies.
- Provide clear, concise executive-level reporting regarding project health, accomplishments, upcoming milestones, risks, issues, financial considerations, and decisions requiring leadership support.
- Partner with technology vendors and strategic partners as required to coordinate product implementations, professional services engagements, technical evaluations, and project deliverables.
- Ensure projects align with enterprise requirements for cybersecurity, architecture, change management, regulations.
