Job Description

Company Overview

Upchurch is a rapidly growing, full-service building engineering company providing mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical services across the southeastern United States. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Horn Lake, MS, Upchurch has grown through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, establishing a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and service excellence. We offer end-to-end solutions—from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and emergency support—helping clients maximize building performance, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.

Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager – Electrical leads large, complex, or high-value electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is accountable for project safety, financial performance, schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and contractual compliance. The Senior Project Manager leads and develops project teams, partners closely with field leadership and shared-service functions and resolves significant project risks to support profitable execution and long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end leadership and accountability for multiple high-value or technically complex electrical construction projects to ensure work is delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, within scope, and in accordance with contractual and quality requirements.

  • Direct preconstruction activities, including estimating support, scope review, constructability analysis, project handoff, and execution planning, to identify risks and establish a sound delivery strategy before work begins.

  • Develop, maintain and monitor project budgets, forecasts, schedules, procurement plans, workforce projections, productivity, cash flow, billing, and commitments to identify variances early and implement corrective actions that protect project performance and profitability.

  • Oversee contract administration, change management, requests for information, submittals, procurement, and closeout documentation to maintain compliance, support timely decisions, and protect the organization’s commercial interests.

  • Serve as the primary senior contact for clients, general contractors, engineers, and other key stakeholders to align expectations, resolve escalated issues, strengthen relationships, and support successful project outcomes.

  • Lead and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other assigned team members through workforce planning, selection, onboarding, coaching, performance feedback, and succession planning to build organizational capability and support consistent project execution.

  • Partner with field leadership, safety, quality, prefabrication, BIM/VDC, and other internal teams to coordinate resources and deliver safe, high-quality installations with minimal disruption or rework.

  • Identify and resolve complex issues involving design coordination, sequencing, logistics, labor, materials, and competing priorities to reduce project risk and maintain progress.

  • Exercise independent judgment within delegated authority to make project decisions involving priorities, resources, sequencing, risk response, and stakeholder commitments.

  • Support continuous improvement through Lean construction practices, technology adoption, lessons learned, and standardized processes to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and scalability.

  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure contractual obligations, schedule commitments, quality standards, and project requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field, or four additional years of directly relevant experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience managing commercial or industrial electrical construction projects, including experience leading large, complex, or multi-project portfolios.

  • Demonstrated experience managing project financials, forecasts, contracts, change orders, schedules, procurement, workforce planning, and closeout activities.

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical construction methods, systems, sequencing, codes, and project delivery practices.

  • Experience leading project teams and coordinating with field operations, clients, general contractors, design professionals, and trade partners.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction technology such as Bluebeam, Procore, Viewpoint, or comparable project management systems.

  • Ability to travel to project sites and regional offices 80–100% of the time based on business needs.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable company driving requirements.

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay based on experience.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Paid time off and holiday pay.

  • Opportunities for professional development and certification assistance.
