Senior Project Manager – Mechanical Construction

Location: St. Louis Metro
Base Salary: $125,000–$160,000, depending on experience
Additional Compensation: Annual bonus and employee ownership

A growing, full-service mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead large and technically complex projects throughout the commercial and industrial markets.

The company performs HVAC, plumbing, process piping, power piping, fabrication, industrial ventilation, and equipment installation work across the country. Projects may include data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, advanced manufacturing, education, and other highly technical environments.

This role will have full responsibility for project execution, including financial performance, scheduling, subcontractor management, field coordination, client communication, and project closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage large mechanical construction projects from planning through completion.

  • Lead HVAC, plumbing, piping, fabrication, and related mechanical scopes.

  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost control, billing, and overall financial performance.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.

  • Coordinate with field leadership, engineering, design, fabrication, safety, warehouse, and service teams.

  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.

  • Ensure materials and equipment are procured, delivered, and installed according to project requirements.

  • Define subcontractor scopes, issue contracts, manage changes, and monitor performance.

  • Identify project risks and resolve issues before they affect cost, schedule, or quality.

  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Support and mentor Project Managers and other members of the project team.

  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, schedule, financial, and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of project management experience within mechanical construction.

  • Strong experience with HVAC, piping, plumbing, process piping, or industrial mechanical systems.

  • Proven success managing large or complex mechanical projects.

  • Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, scheduling, labor productivity, and cost control.

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, submittals, and construction documents.

  • Experience managing subcontractors, change orders, procurement, and project schedules.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent mechanical construction experience will be considered.

  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Viewpoint, Autodesk, or similar construction software is preferred.
