    Description

    Primary Function

The Senior Scheduler is a senior-level project controls professional responsible for leading the development, integrity, and analysis of project schedules across Dacon’s most complex and highest-risk electrical construction projects. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Senior Scheduler serves as the primary scheduling authority on major substation, medium- and high-voltage power system, and EPC construction projects; establishes and governs enterprise scheduling standards; leads schedule risk and delay analysis; and mentors scheduling and project controls staff. This role is a trusted advisor to project and executive leadership on schedule strategy, risk, and recovery. The position will be based in our Deer Park, Texas office located at 1300 Underwood Rd, Deer Park, TX 77536 and will report to Dacon’s Project Controls Manager.

    Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

    • Serve as the primary scheduling authority on Dacon’s largest, most complex, and highest-risk substation and EPC construction projects, owning the master project schedule from development through close-out.
    • Lead the development of baseline schedules, including establishing the scheduling approach, work breakdown structure, and coding standards; secure baseline review and approval from project and executive leadership.
    • Develop, implement, and govern enterprise scheduling standards, procedures, and templates across the project portfolio; drive consistency in logic integrity, coding structures, and reporting practices.
    • Define and govern schedule performance measurement and reporting standards — including earned value management (EVM), progress curves, exception reporting, and schedule version control — and oversee the project controls systems and documentation that support them.
    • Lead schedule risk analysis including critical path and float management, schedule risk assessments, and recovery planning; recommend and drive corrective action with project teams and leadership.
    • Own the preparation and defense of Time Impact Analyses (TIAs), delay analyses, and schedule-based change order and claims documentation; serve as the schedule subject matter expert in commercial disputes.
    • Direct the development of resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules in partnership with project controls, estimating, and finance personnel.
    • Review and provide quality assurance on schedules prepared by other schedulers; approve schedule deliverables prior to internal review and client submission.
    • Serve as the senior scheduling representative in client, executive, and project reviews; present schedule status, critical path, forecasts, and risk to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to Schedulers and project controls staff; build scheduling capability and consistent practices across the organization.
    • Evaluate and recommend scheduling tools, methods, and process improvements; lead adoption of best practices in Primavera P6 and related project controls platforms.
    • Coordinate the integration of subcontractor schedules into the master project schedule and ensure alignment with contract schedule requirements across concurrent projects.
    • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

How You Will Make an Impact

    • Safeguard on-time delivery of Dacon’s most complex projects by providing authoritative schedule leadership that anticipates risk and drives proactive corrective action.
    • Protect Dacon’s contractual and commercial position through rigorous, defensible schedule analysis that supports change orders, claims, and dispute resolution.
    • Raise the maturity of Dacon’s project controls function by establishing scheduling standards and quality practices adopted across the portfolio.
    • Strengthen client confidence and executive decision-making by delivering clear, credible schedule intelligence at every level of the organization.
    • Build long-term organizational capability by mentoring schedulers and cultivating consistent, high-quality scheduling practices.

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience of 4 or more years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Minimum 7 years of progressive project scheduling experience in electrical construction, substation construction, power systems, or EPC project environments, including experience scheduling large or complex projects.
    • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 required; experience with Microsoft Project preferred.
    • Demonstrated expertise in Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, resource and cost loading, schedule risk analysis, and baseline management.
    • Expertise in earned value management (EVM) and schedule performance measurement, with the ability to establish reporting standards across a portfolio.
    • Proven experience preparing and defending Time Impact Analyses (TIAs), delay analyses, and schedule-based change order or claims documentation.
    • Experience developing scheduling standards, procedures, or templates and providing guidance or mentorship to other scheduling staff.
    • Strong knowledge of substation construction, medium- to high-voltage electrical systems, or utility-scale project environments.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex project schedules simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present schedule information and recommendations clearly to project teams, clients, and executive leadership.
    • Driving is not required for this position.

    Preferred

    • Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification or PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification.
