Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinates and conducts clinical or research activities related to the psychological evaluation and treatment of patients or research participants.
  • Provides psychological, physiological and/or behavioral assessments of patients.
  • Administers a variety of neuropsychological tests which require advanced formal education to assess areas such as cognitive functioning, academic skills, personality and emotional development, and behavior.
  • Develops ideas to facilitate research studies and proposes ideas for new research studies.
  • Recruits, screens, and conducts clinical evaluations of potential participants.
  • Assists in determining their eligibility to participate in clinical trials.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data related to various psychological or behavioral studies.
  • Extracts statistical data and prepares reports.
  • Conducts interviews and schedules regular visits with study participants and their caregivers.
  • Writes psychological reports and interprets results.
  • Provides consultation and advice concerning post-study therapy, interventions, and behavior management.
  • Educates patients concerning research procedures, investigational devices, and drugs.
  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation on the delivery of mental health care services for study participants.
  • Makes referrals to mental health professionals or services.
  • May dispense medication in compliance with research protocols.
  • Maintains required documentation.
  • Attends and participates in regular administrative and clinical staff meetings.
  • Conducts education or informational presentations for targeted audiences.
  • May present study findings at conferences. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in education, psychology, social work or a related field.
  • One year of directly related experience.

Physical Requirements: (Sedentary); 1-10 lbs 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); Negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently); Negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 10 lbs max; Carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools; Occasional standing & walking; Frequent sitting Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Environmental Conditions: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases; Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators Environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks
