A well-established California commercial bank is selectively recruiting a Senior Relationship Manager to join a high-performing commercial banking team in the greater Los Angeles market.
This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial banker who wants the autonomy to build a meaningful franchise without starting from zero. The team manages a significant existing portfolio of sophisticated commercial relationships and has more opportunity than its current staffing can fully support.
The successful candidate will assume meaningful client responsibility while continuing to develop new commercial relationships and build an independent book of business.

Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of commercial banking relationships
- Originate commercial and/or commercial real estate loans
- Generate and expand commercial deposit relationships
- Assume responsibility for selected existing client relationships
- Identify opportunities to deepen relationships across lending, deposits, treasury management, and other banking solutions
- Structure and negotiate sophisticated commercial credit transactions
- Partner with portfolio, credit, operations, and treasury-management professionals
- Develop new relationships through direct calling, referrals, and centers of influence
- Maintain strong credit quality and appropriate risk management
- Participate in local business and community activities
- Contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the banking center
- Mentor developing bankers as appropriate
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Significant commercial banking relationship-management experience
- Proven track record of commercial loan and deposit production
- Experience managing sophisticated commercial clients
- Strong CRE and/or C&I background
- Experience with investors, privately held companies, entrepreneurs, family offices, or high-net-worth principals highly desirable
- Strong credit, structuring, and negotiation capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex relationships
- Established professional and COI network within greater Los Angeles preferred
- Strong executive presence
- Entrepreneurial and highly accountable
- Collaborative approach to internal partnerships
- Interested in both near-term production and long-term career growth
Preferred Business Characteristics
The strongest candidates will demonstrate the capability to produce approximately:
- $30MM–$40MM+ in annual commercial loan production
- $10MM–$15MM+ in annual deposit growth

- Commercial Real Estate
- Investor Real Estate
- C&I / Middle-Market Banking
- Family Office Banking
- Private Banking with significant commercial credit exposure
- Entrepreneur and privately held business banking
Production quality and sophistication are more important than having an exact product mix.

- Are looking for a junior or developmental RM position
- Primarily service an inherited portfolio without meaningful new-business production
- Prefer a narrowly defined role with limited client ownership
- Are uncomfortable independently handling sophisticated commercial relationships
- Lack meaningful credit and deal-structuring experience

- Require a highly bureaucratic or heavily segmented banking environment
- Prefer to operate independently without collaborating with credit, portfolio, and operations partners
Compensation
Base compensation is targeted between $160k and $200k, depending on experience, production history, qualifications, and location.
The position is also eligible for annual incentive compensation. Total compensation will reflect the candidate's ability to generate profitable commercial relationships, grow deposits, manage credit responsibly, and contribute to the broader success of the banking team.
