    Job Description

    About Atoms

Atoms builds Physical AI — real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Over the last decade, software transformed the digital world. The physical world — where food is made, minerals are mined, and goods are moved — remains far less intelligent and far more constrained. Atoms is changing that.

Their systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive. Atoms doesn’t just build machines in a lab — they deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.

    The Opportunity

Atoms is looking for a Senior Robotics Test Engineer to build the test infrastructure, tooling, and processes that keep hardware and software moving fast and reliably from bench to deployment. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software — writing the scripts that flash and validate devices, building hardware-in-the-loop test systems, and creating the tools that help technicians and engineers debug effectively.

This is a high-leverage, systems-level role. You will work closely with manufacturing engineers, PCB engineers, contract manufacturers, and technicians to build processes that scale. The tools you build and the SOPs you write will directly determine how fast the team can iterate.

    What You’ll Do

    • •      Create processes and write software for flashing, bring-up, and testing devices
    • •      Build hardware-in-the-loop tests for actuation, burn-in, and bench testing
    • •      Work with technicians to iterate on processes and SOPs
    • •      Debug complex software and hardware integration issues alongside technicians, electrical engineers, and robotics engineers
    • •      Build tools for technicians including visualization for status, test deployment, test results, and test result tracking
    • •      Advise on and iterate on device issue tracking to manage issues over time
    • •      Work closely with manufacturing and PCB engineers
    • •      Collaborate with contract manufacturers to build out processes and test scripts

    You Should Have

    • •      3+ years of relevant non-internship work experience
    • •      Experience writing software that interacts directly with hardware systems
    • •      Experience with Linux systems, debugging tools, C++, and Python
    • •      Deeper experience working with at least one piece of an autonomy stack — sensors and actuators, networking and comms, or electrical systems
    • •      Demonstrated ability to solve complex hardware and software issues through methodical investigation and creative problem solving
    • •      Track record of building processes that scale and tools that help others debug more effectively
    • •      Strong communication skills — able to explain complex technical issues clearly to both engineers and technicians

    Compensation and Benefits

Base salary depending on experience, plus equity.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; FSA/HSA options; 401(k); unlimited flexible time off and paid holidays; paid parental leave; pre-tax commuter benefit; and team lunches in the SoMa office twice a week.
