Job description

This is a direct hire for one of our clients. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Our client is building an innovative direct-to-consumer digital platform that connects customers throughout the entire journey, from discovering and customizing a product to completing a purchase and managing ongoing ownership. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve customer-facing features, services, and systems that power this experience. In this role, you will partner closely with Product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software, solve complex technical challenges, and help shape the future of the digital platform. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment, demonstrates strong technical judgment, and can balance rapid execution with long-term scalability and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deliver customer-facing features, services, and components, owning solutions from technical design through production.

• Evaluate technical approaches and trade-offs while contributing to system architecture and balancing customer needs, business priorities, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

• Develop and operate reliable, scalable web services, APIs, and distributed systems.

• Integrate third-party services and SaaS platforms using APIs, events, webhooks, and other integration patterns.

• Maintain high engineering standards through unit, functional, and integration testing, as well as code and design reviews.

• Continuously improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

• Partner with Product and UX teams to translate customer needs into effective technical solutions and cohesive digital experiences.

• Solve complex technical and business challenges, identify risks early, and make thoughtful decisions when requirements or information are incomplete.

• Collaborate across engineering teams to align on architecture, establish technical standards, and support the evolution of the overall platform.

• Mentor and support other engineers by sharing knowledge, providing constructive feedback, and offering technical guidance

Qualifications

• Professional software development experience building and supporting customer-facing software systems.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience delivering production-quality code.

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining reliable web services and APIs.

• Working knowledge of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices.

• Experience integrating third-party services or platforms using APIs, events, webhooks, or similar technologies.

• Ability to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and evaluate technical trade-offs.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex challenges while maintaining high engineering standards.

• Experience collaborating with Product, UX, and engineering stakeholders to deliver customer-focused software solutions.

• Strong communication skills with experience participating in technical discussions, code reviews, and design reviews

Preferred Skills

• Experience with e-commerce or marketplace systems, including product catalogs, product configuration, shopping carts, checkout, payments, order management, or fulfillment.

• Experience building high-performance customer-facing applications and optimizing frontend performance.

• Experience designing scalable distributed systems and contributing to architecture across multiple teams.

• Experience mentoring engineers, coordinating technical initiatives, or influencing engineering standards.

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment where requirements evolve and solutions are not always clearly defined.
