Senior Software Engineer (Network Infrastructure)

  • Title of Role: Senior Software Engineer (Network Infrastructure)
  • Location: -, remote
  • Company Stage of Funding: Series B — Software Development
  • Office Type: Remote
  • Salary: $170K–$220K

Company Description

We're representing a company that is redefining how organizations secure remote access to their private applications, data, and environments. Their platform replaces legacy business VPNs with a modern, zero trust security model designed for distributed work and cloud-native infrastructure. Trusted by engineering-forward organizations, they focus on providing reliable, maintainable, and scalable access control.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance network infrastructure components that support a zero trust access platform.
  • Write systems-level code in C/C++, Rust, and/or Go to address complex networking and performance challenges.
  • Contribute to the architecture and evolution of core networking protocols, tunneling mechanisms, and traffic routing logic.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure infrastructure components are reliable, observable, and scalable.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical planning to maintain engineering quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and security vulnerabilities in network-critical systems.
  • Help shape the technical direction of infrastructure systems as the platform continues to grow.

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on network infrastructure or systems programming.
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, Rust, or Go, with experience in systems-level or performance-sensitive codebases.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and tunneling protocols such as WireGuard and IPSec.
  • Experience building and operating infrastructure demanding high availability, low latency, and security correctness.
  • Comfortable working in a remote-first, collaborative engineering culture with a high degree of ownership and autonomy.

Preferred

  • Experience with low-level systems work and a strong interest in cybersecurity and zero-trust access control.
  • Proven ability to own systems or components end-to-end, from design through build and iteration.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this role ranges from $170,000 to $220,000, commensurate with experience. This is a fully remote position within the United States, offering flexibility and a collaborative work environment.
