Job Summary

Job Title: Technical Lead - ChatGPT & Generative AI Development

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to own the ChatGPT development track and lead the existing team based in Uruguay. The role combines solution architecture, technical guidance, delivery management, and stakeholder coordination, with accountability for quality and timely delivery across the entire track.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical delivery, from requirement clarification and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and production stabilization.

• Lead and mentor the Uruguay development team, providing technical direction, reviewing code, and resolving blockers.

• Translate business requirements into technical designs, actionable backlog items, estimates, and delivery plans.

• Design and develop enterprise applications using OpenAI APIs, conversational interfaces, and integrations with business systems.

• Guide implementation of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool/function calling, workflow orchestration, and conversation management.

• Establish engineering standards for secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, documentation, and observability.

• Define evaluation criteria for response quality, reliability, latency, and cost; guide prompt and application improvements.

• Ensure appropriate handling of enterprise data, access controls, prompt injection risks, and AI guardrails.

• Coordinate with product owners, architects, QA, security, and platform teams to manage dependencies, risks, and releases.

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the track, communicating progress, issues, and decisions to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong software development experience, including technical leadership of distributed teams.

• Hands-on experience building production applications using OpenAI APIs or comparable enterprise LLM platforms.

• Strong proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, REST APIs, backend services, and enterprise integrations.

• Practical experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation.

• Experience with cloud platforms, application security, CI/CD, and production monitoring.

• Ability to make architectural decisions, troubleshoot complex issues, and balance quality, performance, and cost.

• Strong communication, mentoring, planning, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to coordinate effectively across time zones, with working-hour overlap with the Uruguay team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with enterprise conversational AI, agentic workflows, and responsible AI practices.

• Experience with React or similar frameworks for conversational application interfaces.

• Familiarity with AI security and guardrail solutions, including Google Cloud Model Armor or equivalent.

• Spanish language proficiency is an advantage.

Suggested Experience: 8+ years in software development, including 2+ years in technical leadership and demonstrated delivery of GenAI applications.

Maximum Salary (US): 275000

Minimum Salary (US): 145000

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate's pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
