Senior Staff Accountant, Accounting (2026-59)

SUMMARY
Ensures the integrity of AAA's accounting information by recording, verifying, and approving transactions. Manages monthly expenses and accruals, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses. Assists with monthly financial closing, variance analysis, annual budget process, and preparation of required federal and state tax returns. Provides financial analysis support for the annual audit. Interacts with regional, divisional, and senior management regarding accounting issues.

This is a mostly remote position and the successful candidate will reside within a 125 mile radius of their assigned location. The salary range for this position is location based with quarterly incentive opportunities:

  • Johnston, RI - $85,500 - $90,500
  • Philadelphia, PA Voorhees, NJ - $89,500 - $95,000
  • Boston, MA - Washington D.C. - $93,500 - $98,500
  • New York, NY - $99,500 - $105,500

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains General Ledger, including preparation and review of journal entries to ensure accuracy and adequate support
  • Ensures the accuracy and adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports, journals, and account reconciliations
  • Assists with monthly and year-end financial closing, and prepares internal and external reporting
  • Manages production of balance sheet and income statement account analysis and subsidiary ledger reconciliations to the general ledger
  • Assists with audits by interacting with internal and external auditors and producing/retrieving supporting documentation
  • Creates and improves accounting processes; works with staff to promote and provide top-quality standards and practices
  • Supervises and reviews the work of a staff accountant to ensure accuracy and provide coaching and guidance to streamline processes
  • Maintains various functions of the budget process and cost allocation schedules
  • Ensures confidentiality of case information and case records; adheres to AAA's information security and data privacy policies, procedures, and practices
  • Demonstrates consistent reliability, professional integrity, and accountability
  • Attends on-site and in-person meetings and training sessions
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline; or equivalent experience
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Knowledge of current FASB Accounting Standards Codification, specifically, ASC 350/360 and ASC 842 preferred

  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Thrives in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment and easily adopts new technologies
  • Thinks critically and identifies and implements process improvements
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; Oracle/NetSuite preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting
