Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 10 years of experience in product design or UX.

• Masters degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 15 years of experience in product design or UX.

• 7 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.

• 5 years of experience working with executive leaders.

• Demonstrated track record of translating ambiguous, cutting-edge technologies into validated, intuitive user products through end-to-end design leadership.

Google User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. As a Conversation Designer, you'll create conversational, voice-forward experiences across multiple surfaces, such as smart speakers, smart displays, auto, and more. You'll work on multiple projects simultaneously, deal with cross-functional stakeholders, and provide feedback and direction to design work. Design work will include understanding product requirements and user context, and you'll create flows, prompts, and multi-modal interaction patterns.

Labs Science is focused on incubating early-stage efforts in support of Google's mission. Our team exists to help discover and create new ways to advance our core products through exploration and the application of new technologies. We work to build new solutions that have the potential to transform how users interact with Google. Our goal is to drive innovation by developing new Google products and capabilities that deliver significant impact over longer timeframes.

Our team exists to help discover and create new ways to advance our core products through exploration and the application of new technologies. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $236000 - $329000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end product development, design architecture, and UX vision for 01 incubations, influencing executive leadership to secure alignment and investment.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Research leadership to translate ambiguous frontier technologies into compelling, user-centered product definitions.
• Own holistic design processes, interaction models, and information architectures, leading rapid prototyping and user testing to validate hypotheses and shape roadmaps.
• Establish and scale design principles, design patterns, and quality standards across complex, multi-faceted problem spaces and incubation teams.
• Mentor and provide creative and strategic direction to designers and cross-functional partners across the organization.
