Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who lives at the intersection of civil/structural design and heavy industrial hardware. You'll own the structural design of steel structures and industrial skids from concept through fabrication, working shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical, process, and manufacturing teams. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who wants to see their drawings turn into steel — not sit in a review queue.

What You'll Do

• Own the structural design and analysis of steel structures, equipment supports, and industrial skids from concept through fabrication and installation.
• Perform structural analysis and code checks using RISA-3D and hand calculations; size members, connections, base plates, and anchorage.
• Develop and review fabrication drawings, connection details, and weldments; coordinate directly with fabricators and shops to resolve design and constructability issues.
• Apply IBC, AISC, ACI, and other governing structural codes and standards to design decisions and analyses.
• Design steel-framed structures, platforms, skid frames, and foundations to meet strength, serviceability, and seismic requirements.
• Collaborate with mechanical, process, and manufacturing engineers to integrate structural design with piping, equipment, and layout constraints.
• Produce clear, defensible design calculations and documentation that support internal design reviews and external licensing where required.
• Support field and shop questions during fabrication and construction, and drive design changes when reality demands them.

Basic Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of professional structural engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of IBC, AISC, ACI, and other structural codes and standards.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software, including RISA-3D.
• Experience creating and working with fabrication drawings.
• Experience with industrial skid design and steel structure design.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), in Texas and/or Idaho.
• Familiarity with AISC N690 (Specification for Safety-Related Steel Structures for Nuclear Facilities).
• Experience in the nuclear industry.
