Senior Superintendent – Earthwork & Underground Utilities

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee earthwork, grading, and underground utility operations. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience installing storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer systems, along with a strong background in earthmoving and site grading. This individual will lead field crews, coordinate equipment and subcontractors, maintain jobsite safety, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily field operations for underground utilities, earthwork, and grading.
• Oversee the installation of storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Manage excavation, backfill, compaction, mass grading, and site preparation.
• Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and deliveries.
• Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain a safe jobsite and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor productivity, quality control, and project schedules.
• Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and owners.
• Identify and resolve field issues to minimize delays and rework.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in underground utilities, including storm, water, and sanitary sewer.
• Strong experience with earthmoving, mass grading, excavation, and site development.
• Proven experience leading crews and managing large-scale civil construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility profiles.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety, equipment operations, and field procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
